    No flex position.

Chris Johnson @ SD - SD held McFadden to 32 yds last week.
DeMarco Murray @ SEA - he ran for 139 last year against them.

    Leaning Murray.

    Who do I keep?

I can keep up to three:

    Sure Keepers
    1. Soriano - obvious keeper and a strong injury free Sept I don't expect speed from him anymore
    2. Maggs - getting older but an awesome 07 - no speed

    Who do I keep here?
Garrett Atkins - I'd like him but he might be trade bait with Ian Stewart in the wings. Away from Coors he's very average.
Eric Byrnes - nice mix of power, speed, average. Could make up some of the speed I'm missing
Brian Roberts - great speed but not a third rounder

    I also have
    Felix Hernandez
    Tim Lincecum

    Thanks for any opinions/comments

You have both given me some new perspectives at these players.

I think I'll drop Atkins and Felix from consideration at this point and focus on the others.

While I really like Roberts, I think I'll go after a later round 2B or even a sleeper like Hill or Castillo.

I doubt my competitors would leave Byrnes or Lincecum out there too long.

I set up an analysis of likely keepers to see what teams are being forced to drop top level players. Here are some:

    Likely Pitchers Available:
Hamels (team has Beckett, Utley, Braun, Guerrero)
Verlander (team has Hanley, Peavy, Ortiz)
Haren or Bedard (team has Holliday and Crawford)

    Likely Pitchers Hitters:
    Guerrero (see above)
    Granderson (Arod, CC, Ichiro)
    Pena (Arod, CC, Ichiro)
    Berkman (Webb, Rollins, Upton)
    Hafner (Holliday, Crawford, Bedard/Haren)

I may keep Byrnes and then try to get two pitchers with my next two picks. Would love to get Hamels and Lincecum, but Lincecum might be a stretch in the 5th round of this 12 team league.

I get very antsy with young players. We also have a football keeper league and I took Adrian Peterson with my 1st pick (4th round overall). Looked like a stretch for some, but I was convinced after watching him in the pre-season that he was going to be a stud in this league. I hedged with Moss in the 5th round and I broke scoring records in this league.

I have the same feeling with Lincecum as I did with Peterson, but I always get burned with pitchers in the first 3 rounds (Peavy '06 and Carpenter '07). Maybe the 3rd time's a charm.

Thanks again for comments and would welcome more.

All things equal, I'd keep Coffee and Walker b/c it's better balance. I also think Gore will be out longer or be a continual injury risk because he's actually got 2 sprains - ankle and foot.

How many slots do you have for WR and RB in your league?

    Fair deal.

Tex will have 40 HRs 120 RBIs and 90 runs. His AVG has dropped but its not .199 like Pena, He could still hit .280 when its all said and done.

Reyes is incredible this year but has no history of doing this wire to wire. I think he will eventually level out (like he has over the last 40 ABs) or get hurt (again).

This is a fair deal at any point of this season as well as today.
