    7 inning RP strategy

    by Robert Aug 24, 2016 6:04 AM

As commish I require all managers to display their email addresses. I give them until the beginning of the season and if they are not displayed then I lock them out. I have had numerous owners use the same account to draft two teams, this at least requires them to use two email addresses. I do it for a check for cheaters.

Because an owner uses a lot of RP doesn't mean they are PROs, experienced yes. Over time I have learned a thing or two and I play to those experiences, it has put me in 1st place in all 8 of my leagues. Nothing wrong with that.

    Cheating Commissioner

    Steve -

    1) I have been a commish in 8 leagues for 15 years. There is no such thing as a commish tool to adjust or edit "anyone's" lineup after the game starts, even his own. If there was a tool then you'd see those transactions occur on the Recent Transactions list, just like in football and it would say (commissioner). I just checked all my commish tools and found no such thing.

    2) When your starters ended up on the bench, I suspect you put them in your starting lineup and then made a add/drop transaction, this undoes the saved bench to starter move.

    3) When I set up a league I want a certain number of teams and if I don't get that number then I'll do a redraft, he has a right to have a certain number of teams. Because you don't like it doesn't mean it is wrong or cheating. If you don't like it then drop out prior to the second draft. If you stayed then it is your fault for staying. If you are still unhappy then ask him to replace you.

He has not been cheating like you believe he has and I suspect you owe him an apology. Are you man enough to give him that respect or are you going to whine about it even though 3 people have told you that you are wrong?

You shouldn't do anything as commissioner. As an owner, think ahead as suggested. There is no such thing as the spirit of the rules and gay thing to do, there are the RULES.

    Tiebreakers in playoffs...

Actually it depends which Type of Scoring is used by the league. If the league is simply H2H then your 28-25-7 scenario is correct. If the league is H2H - One Win then it is 1-2 option. Not sure about H2H - Points, I suspect highest point totals during the season when playing that opponent.

He'll get more attempts with the box filled to stop him. I think it is a trade off.

If you are trying to win this year, I don't do it. If you are wanting to win next year or the year after then maybe. I've heard AP is retiring after this year!!!

    Draft Order

Robert - you are wrong about TJ. He always give solid advice and is a pleasant person. I've finalized many leagues days in advance over numerous years and it has NEVER given me a draft order prior to 30 minutes in advance of the draft. Not sure how Joshua got it to work, I am suspect of his answer.

    Waiver Claim

Depends on your roster. Do you have another QB as backup? What is your RB and WR depth? Can't make this decision based solely on talent. Generally I only draft 2 QBs and if I drop one then I pick another one up unless my bye week has passed, of course that hasn't happen. I'm a RB guy regardless of the new method so many are trying. I also rarely bet my season on rookies until they have shown some legitimacy.

How many bench spots do you have? 6 is to many, maybe 5, but 4 for sure.

    Player rankings wrong?

    by Steve Apr 9, 2016 2:02 PM

Maybe this will help you ROB. Yahoo posted about week or two ago where they had updated their custom league settings to include all categories used in that league instead of the standard league format. So in leagues like mine where we have 26 categories rankings changed a bunch. There were a lot of fantasy owners that complained that it appeared as though Yahoo didn't do any testing of the update. Many were saying SB were really affecting players rankings.

I'd drop him. Although I play in custom leagues with a lot more categories, 26, so punting SB are not as important. In a 5x5 it is a more difficult decision. I always play to win now.

Use your player list to evaluate your players or click on stats season on your team page. It will rank your players. I always have a catcher and would probably drop a bench player like Mazara or either pitcher you mentioned.

TJ has given the basics and if you are in a weekly league none of it really matters, your lineup doesn't change all week. If you are in a daily league, there are two types, change for tomorrow or change today for add drops. For active lineup changes for the day I like to review the active roster several times a day as some players don't get ruled out until just prior to the game, I still miss some of them. Keep playing and you'll figure it out. Your mistakes will teach you. Try streaming it teaches newbies a lot.

    Stats vs. Intuition vs. Loyalty?

Try to stick to numbers but it is difficult. I love to have players from the Royals, Reds, or Orioles but when I'm drafting it usually comes down to what position I need. I don't like to reach. I don't like to have to many from my teams because I know I have a tendency to over rate them.

    What is a fair trade?

    by Lee May 14, 2016 4:30 PM
Kerry Kerry May 15, 2016 1:12 AM Flag

Owners have the right to veto for whatever reason they want. They don't have to approve or veto for all the same reasons you do. Fair to one owner may not be fair to another, using numbers or potential. Lots of owners love to trade the hot player for a proven player knowing the hot player will cool down. I dislike those types of owners. They justify short term success as a reason to trade up. I run my own leagues and always use commissioner powers and let everyone know at the beginning of the season the trades have to be fair by the numbers and not simply short term numbers. I'm a more lenient when a highly ranked player during the draft is goes cold because many times it is an undisclosed injury the player is attempting to play through.

Sounds to me like it is "YOU" that is attempting to trade by looking deeper, that is an unfair justification most times. IMO let it go and keep trying instead of getting upset at them.
