    by hey m Aug 18, 2015 12:19 AM

Your team isn't that good. I dropped Span months ago, he recently came back for 2 games BUT is having season ending surgery. I also dropped Ryan Zimmerman recently for lack of production .224 average. Get Jones out of your lineup, he hurt his wrist running into the wall last night. If you are so good then why aren't you winning your league, 3rd place?

    Jordy Nelson worth #2 waiver?

Not sure how many bench spots you have but I suspect you'll fill your IR spots throughout the season. If Jordy is taking up one spot then you are only left with one, sure you want to do that? That number 2 spot will come in handy and to use it picking up a player that won't play this season. Have to ask if you are trying win this season or already looking forward to next year? I'd wait and hopefully he clears waivers and you don't need to use that waiver spot. Tough choice, good luck

Can we get an optional "auto-substitute" button?

So which player on your bench would you want subbed in? If you have two then Yahoo would have to make a decision for you. Are you sure you want a computer managing your team? First time the computer subbed in a player that went 0-4 you would never use it again. Sorry bad idea!!!

I wish MLB managers could accurately set their lineups a day or two in advance so Yahoo could publish it. Pitchers are 5 days out, thus if the opposing team knows who is pitching 5 days out then the other team knows who should bat against him. Of course there is rest but many times the manager knows he'll probably sit a player based on the matchup ratings of the opposing starting pitcher vs his hitters. Not rocket science.

    Need DL Spot

I had him in 4 leagues and dropped him in all of them. I could have put him on the DL in two of my leagues but looked at the fantasy season/playoffs and determined he would be of NO value. If I owned the Marlins I'd shut him down.

Roster strategy - what do you think?

    by arashh Aug 12, 2015 12:41 PM

My results so far are outstanding, IMO. Have eight leagues and am in first in six of them and second in the other two and still have two undefeated teams. I did what you did, asked for help on the message board over two years ago and the response was overwhelming in favor of option one while streaming pitchers. I drafted a stud pitcher team once, got 6th place haven't done it since.

Check this out - during one of my 2015 drafts, it was a custom draft with 25 (13 hitters-12 pitchers) active positions and 5 bench. Half way through the draft a manager said, "this draft is now just getting started", my response was "think I'm about done". See I drafted all hitters for the first 18 rounds and knew I wasn't going to get any good pitchers and I punt saves so it seemed to me that I could actually leave the draft (of course I couldn't). Assuming the computer would draft all the highest ranked pitchers remaining, which is what I would probably do anyway (except my ego is too big and I believe I can find the best sleeper pitchers) thus I reach. Every single manager in attendance at the draft got somewhat upset at me and said, "leave then" "who do you think you are" "you've got NO pitchers hahaha" "you are gonna suck". We've all seen it well this time I experienced it. They were laughing at me for the remainder of the draft. Never seen so much banter about one message. As I said I couldn't leave so I had to take it but kept saying we'll see and wished them all good luck, while biting my tongue. Currently I'm 16-2 and in first place and those same gentlemen that were laughing at me, well you get the picture.

You should try custom leagues. To me they are much more fun. Be a commissioner and go through setting up a league. It taught me a lot about what the categories and scoring options, there are a lot more than you would expect. I generally have 11x11 with daily activity being rewarded with extra moves and total categories like AB and PC.

    No-RB Strategy, does this work?

    by Barry Aug 16, 2015 2:52 PM
Kerry Kerry Aug 17, 2015 1:19 AM Flag

I doubt it would get you to a championship!!!! Had an undefeated season last year in one league, because I had 3 stud RBs, been playing fantasy football since 1985 and I have never done better than 2 losses. Abdullah is looking good so far but it is only the first game of the preseason and it is Detroit. Chiefs have said Charles will be rested some to keep him healthy, thus Knile Davis, he looked good last year but his pass catching is suspect. If you have a real shot at a top 5 RB, you got to take him.

Roster strategy - what do you think?

Did you see any teams with a mixture of extra hitters and pitchers? I suspect there are some of those too. I don't limit myself, I'll use both of your methods and a mixture from week to week depending on my opponents roster and how my week progresses. I'm always looking at which categories I can steal by smart waiver management. I believe waiver wire activity/management is far more important than your opponents roster hitter to pitcher ratio,. I use the Opponents link and the "Probable" starting pitcher list a lot when I'm pitcher heavy, looking for 2 start pitchers. I use the Matchup Ratings link when I'm hitter heavy to sit bad matchup players. I suspect a manager can win with either of your suggested strategies but if I had to choose it would be hitter heavy while streaming pitchers.

    Kickers

My leagues have deep rosters (2 QBs, 3 Flex, 2 K, 2 Def, 8 IDPs) and generally I don't draft a kicker until the last round or two.

LOL, you complain about us posting about this topic and yet you still come out here and respond to us. What is it with you??? You have NO influence on anyone that is still posting on this thread, so get the message and stop trying to convince us this is for our own good. For goodness sakes man this costs everyone more money!!! This is painful to some people's eyes!!! Do you really support Yahoo that much as to diss the "MANY" users that are experiencing financial concerns and physical issues, REALLY???

I have tried every "forum" Yahoo provides and will continue to try every where I can regardless of your constant badgering of the users on this topic. You have made your point clear, you don't need to do it OVER and OVER and OVER, OK??? Go do what you do best and help baseball people with those issues as your comments on this thread only instigate disagreements. Is that what you are after, it is starting to look just like that!!!!

I agree whole heartedly with Robotcat!!!!!! There have been posts saying the change was due to complaints from customers. Both when they changed to dark and then back to white. So maybe Yahoo does read some of these message boards, it is not like you can say for 100% positive they don't. Thus give anyone who wants to keep this particular thread alive all the help we can. BECAUSE THIS WHITE STUFF SUCKS THE BIG ONE,. It cost more money to run white than dark, that is a fact that can not be debated. Based on that I suspect Yahoo is in cahoots with the power companies Think about it, the option was available but now they can't keep it available, WHY? Because they are making money using the white over dark, ONLY reason. They tell you the other reasons hoping you'll believe them and then they don't look like money grubbers. They are like every other company, use all of your assets to make as much money as possible.

It hurts my eyes too. Neither reason, cost or pain are PETTY reasons. I take offense to your comments that we are being petty. You have accepted it and apparently like it, congrats to you but don't expect others to feel the way you do about this topic. I would also ask for an apology.

You are NOT forced to read anything!!!!! You know this thread is about a topic that is not related to "baseball" thus you don't need to keep coming back here if you don't want to. It is YOUR choice.

I also come to these message boards to help others and sometimes to get an opinion. BUT to say these message boards are ONLY for what you have decided they are here for is not right. I believe Yahoo wants people to be here as much as possible regardless of the topic as long as it does not break the rules of decency. Well I've said my piece and I hope I have not made an enemy of you or upset you, thus I apologize ahead of time.

Agreed. Level of manager talent isn't where I would like it to be, you are lucky to be so fortunate, don't get me wrong with some work anyone can have leagues filled with trusted managers and I am sure you have done a good job. BUT lots of leagues are like mine and probably very few like yours. When discussing these things one has to consider all the different types of managers playing and respond with everyone in mind instead of those fortunate few. I feel integrity isn't limited to it's components because issues can be complex. But could be simply the integrity of the commissioner using your logic. Why make things more complicated than necessary? Ah the doubt factors in right or don't want to the recipient of accusations? How much is that worth if the commissioner IS FAIR? It is a fact that bad trades get through when using league votes in "MANY" leagues, just not yours. Both types have their drawbacks but many active traders only want to discuss the ONE "commissioner review" that has upset them in the past. It is a type of ignorance on their part and they want others to believe the way they do so they can win their leagues with lopsided trades, I look at both sides and make a decision, commissioner votes beat out league votes..

Your information helps other managers with a strategy to win if they want to listen and rules when they misunderstand, that is admirable and I respect and agree with much of what you say. I suspect we could go back and forth on this with neither convincing the other. I do respect your decision to go with league votes if it works for you. and congrats for working hard to get your leagues in that kind of shape.
