  • 10 team H2H league. Alex Gordon was dropped. My offense is below. At first it seemed like a no brainer to drop Pillar or Yelich for Gordon. But after thinking it over, Yelich has outperformed Gordon over the last 30 days and Pillar has outperformed him all year long. I could drop Souza, but his category juice is handy despite the batting average drain. Am I crazy to leave Gordon sitting on the wire?

    C) Santana
    1B) Hosmer
    2B) Kipnis
    3B) Donaldson
    SS) Tulo
    OF) Puig, Yelich, Pillar
    UT) Dozier, Correa
    BN) Souza
    DL) Dickerson, Rendon, Stanton

    Alex Gordon Dropped

    by John Jul 6, 2015 12:49 PM

Nah. The league has max moves per week so I can't stream. Keeping only one bench bat and using a bunch of starters has worked really well for me in this league.

Thanks. The reports I've read say Souza is day to day and is supposed to be fine.

    First Stanton...Now Cabrera?

    by JaredF Jul 5, 2015 5:26 PM

You've got good players at 1B and 3B even without Miggy. I would at least explore what type of Outfielder (or maybe SS) you could get in return for Miggy. If you can trade Miggy to someone with an open DL slot and get an Outfielder or SS that could help you for the entire ROS, I'd do it.

We're officially past the half way point. This team of Strong's never draft players is still hanging in there okay.

    3B) A-Rod
    SS) Tulo
    OF) Harper, Gardner, Upton

    BN) Braun, Upton
    DL) Stanton

    Altuve, Correa, or Betts

Definitely not Betts. I personally like Correa over Altuve for the upside and the 5 cat production instead of 4.

    Thoughts on Gregory Polanco?

I think Burns is probably more valuable than Polanco ROS, but they should be close and Polanco has the upside. You made a good move by swapping Burns for Polanco and adding a closer.

    Jarrod Dyson

    by JaredF Jul 9, 2015 1:05 PM

I wouldn't personally drop Yelich for Dyson, even if I were hurting for steals. The upside is too big and he's really been coming around lately. Dyson may not even stick in the lineup full time. Royals also have Orlando, Rios, and may explore trades.

    Jamie Garcia

Yes, the rotoworld updates usually cover this stuff when there's official news. But there is some minutia stuff avid fans of the teams sometimes know that rotoworld doesn't post, so I'll tell you what I know as a follower of local St. Louis sports media in stead of being a smarta$$.

I get the feeling they are thinking Jaime will be able to start Sunday against the Mets. The Cardinals have already announced they are going to start the 2nd half with Lynn and Lackey going Friday/Saturday. They have also said they won't use Wacha/Martinez until the start of the Chicago series on the 21st to give the two young arms an extra long all star break. That leaves Sunday open with an unannounced starter that they informally plan on being Jaime. If not they'll go with Cooney and Jaime will take that 3rd spot in the rotation the next time it comes around, which would be against the Braves on the 25th.

All that said, we're talking about Jaime Garcia. If he doesn't make another start this season I don't think anyone will be shocked.

    Beachy & Piscotty

I like Piscotty's potential for real life baseball. Plus D, plus arm, good batting eye, hits a lot of doubles. But I'm not sure about his fantasy value. Especially this season. If you've got an open spot I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a flyer on him just in case, but I don't see him lighting the fantasy world on fire this year. As a Cardinal fan, he'd be a huge real life success In my mind if he saw a lot of pitches, took plenty of walks, kept his average above .285 or so, and maybe hit 4 or 5 HR. That would be huge for the Cardinals in real world baseball, but not anything that valuable in fantasy.

Once Santana loses his C eligibility next season he's going to be a total fantasy dud. He's no sure thing, but I'd gamble on Rodon's upside over taking the known not so great quantity in Santana.

Albert and Prince are close with the edge to Albert. I like Dozier over Upton, especially if you need a 2b. Betts is better than Street, especially if you still have plenty of closers. Duffy is better than Fister, but whatever on both of them. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty even deal. If it addressed your team needs then you did well.

You definitely need a 3rd closer and Boxberger is getting saves. The only reason I wouldn't go for it if there are other guys on the wire poised to be closers that you could grab. Giles being the #1 target. Then maybe Smith, Hoover. Mujica? Etc.

Not enough info here. I'll assume this is a one year head to head league. If you are going to be able to make the playoffs with Stanton on the DL, then it's probably wise to hold on to him. He should be back for the fantasy playoffs and he's the kind of player that can win a head to head matchup for you. But, obviously, if it's looking like you won't make the playoffs with him on the DL, then you may as well trade him and try to get pieces that will help get your team into the playoff mix. If that's what you're trying to do, I'd say an OF like Heyward and Marte and a good closer (assuming your team needs a closer) is a good return for Stanton.

    Championship Bound?

It seems from your comments you already know how you feel about your team. Maybe you're just looking for a little validation. Well, here it is. Matt B, I validate thee.

You have built a team differently than I do (I usually go for w/k and let era/whip sort themselves out and you're doing the opposite), but plenty of different strategies can work. And, of course, H2H playoffs are always a bit of a crapshoot. Bu you have a team that should put up a good fight in the playoffs and has a chance to win.

Post your full rosters. I'm with the others that have a hard time believing those are your most droppable players. All of those players should have at least some value on the trade market, which would make a lot more sense than dropping any of them.

Wong. But both should be owned if we're talking about a league with 10+ teams.

I doubt he's been replaced despite the recent struggles. They seem to be behind him in Colorado and the team isn't going anywhere anyway. I say hold him at least until after the trade deadline.
