Actually, in the guy's defense, most of his roster moves were perfectly reasonable, had it been a redraft league. The Fielder drop was probably a result of his not understanding it's a keeper league. At the suggestion of several other managers, I sent him a friendly email explaining it was a keeper league and why I was giving him a mulligan on that roster move. If he'd been even remotely civil, of course I'd have allowed him to drop Fielder again and remain in the league. In six years as commissioner, I believe I've vetoed one trade (and that was four years ago --I might let that one go now, if I could do it all over again). The manager in this instance received multiple warnings, but he just couldn't keep his temper under control. The other managers in the league urged me to ban the guy. That's why he was removed. I'd hardly call that dictatorial on my part.
I know, right? Manly commissioners like you go ahead and allow managers to send crazy, profane, ranting, all-caps messages to everyone in a 20-team league without repercussion. Pansies like me, we ban a**holes like that.
The other managers in the league were trying to be helpful to this new manager. It's hard to see how dropping Prince Fielder in a keeper league is a winning strategy, but who knows?
I agree. I didn't force him to accept a trade. As I've said multiple times, he was a new manager and we were trying to help him out, figuring he didn't know he could use a DL slot and hang on to Fielder until next season. His profane overreaction got him booted from the league.
No worries, it's not your fault. The guy's comment was totally off base and misleading. I did want to clarify, though, because I don't want potential new managers to be worried about collusion. We have a really good group of managers in our league, and I most would agree that this is the most fun, and most challenging, league that they play in.
Here's the team's current roster:
Chris Young (SP)
That's what this manager accused me of, yes. It's a league that's been around fox six years; this is its fourth as a keeper league. The manager in question, who was brand new to the league, dropped Prince Fielder (perhaps not understanding what a keeper league is). Before I logged on that morning, five other managers in the league posted to the message board saying that I should give the guy a mulligan and allow him to keep Fielder. So I did, and I sent him a friendly email explaining what was going on. That's his evidence that I own multiple teams as commish.
Sent one invitation, but the individual opted to join a different league. Still one replacement manager slot available! Reply to this message if you're interested.
