I don't know if he is the real deal but if i had Penner i think i would do the same. Why chance him slowing down when u can get a player with proven ability? If i were you i don;t think i would go after Hossa just because of injury prone he is. However, i like the chances of you getting a player like Heatly who should have a career year in SJ. Good Luck.
