Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
in my experience, the best way at making a deal is trying to find a way to help another team. Study everyone's rosters, watch the FA add/drops. Take note at where they need help or where they perceive they need help. Include in the notes your reasoning behind the trade and how it'll benefit them.
@Baseball Guyer as strategy I favor bats over arms. I'd never trade a good hitter for a good pitcher, unless I had a lot of depth at a certain position.
@ John I kind of can't believe I was able to deal Heyward like this. I was willing to give Glen Perkins up too just to get rid of Heyward. Harper will provide a much needed boost to my OF. Having Heyward, Billy Hamilton and Ryan Zimmerman as my starting 3 was killing my OBP.
Trade I just accepted, I get Bryce Haper for Stephen Strasburg & Jason Heyward. This was a counter offer to an, imo, better deal I had sent. I was offering Corey Kluber, Glen Perkins & Jason Heyward for Harper & two other guys.
My roster after trade....
C Y. Molina (M. Wieters on DL)
1B P. Goldshimdt
2B M. Betts
3B M. Moustakas (D. Wright on DL)
SS H. Ramirez
OF B. Harper
OF B. Hamilton
OF R. Zimmerman
UTIL A. Gonzalez
UTIL E. Hosmer
BN A. Russell
So let me get this right, you're two questions are....
Is Chris Davis, the blue eyed white guy who plays for the Orioles black?
Is Wade Miley, the blue eyed white guy who plays for the Red Sox black?
I'd jump at that trade if I were you. I feel it's easier to find arms than it is to find bats. Kershaw is the top SP in the game, but the top SP in the league doesn't win you a fantasy championship. You're getting an A+ SS and a Grade A SP in exchange for an A+ SP.
You can't trade Springer now. You invested a 4th round pick for him. In a 10 team league there has to be at least a few quality SP available. In my league, a 10 team where all the managers are active, there are 6 pitchers ranked in the Top 100 available. And than there's guys like Joe Kelly, Tommy Milone and Drew Pomeranz.
I played with it a few seasons back. You're better off having one. Once you lose R and/or RBI by a couple, you feel pretty dumb.
he's a FA in my league, but my rotation is pretty stacked and as a strategy I run a light bench. Basically it boils down to would you rather have Rodon over Jason Heyward? My rotation looks like this...
I don't think I have a move to make, but thought I put out there for conversation.
I'd rather have Pomeranz if only for the reason I drafted Salazar last season and Pomeranz aided me on the road to a Championship.
