Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
They're friends? Then that might be a bit concerning... but since one of them is your friend, I'd just talk to him and use your judgement call.
In a regular league, no veto although defintely lopsided.
If you're in my league, then be concerned and send him to me please! ;) lol
In all seriousness, though... bad game. Cain is good. Hamels is good, and he's struggled. Felix, Kershaw, Verlander, every ace has had 2-3 bad game stretches. Price started off poorly last year, too. ;)
Jean Segura is a solid option. I've picked him up in a couple of my leagues for my starting SS when Aybar went down with an injury. Good sleeper.
Cozart has potential, but needs to be consistent. He's always had a good bat, but never fully put it together. Still young, though, so he's got good upside.
Thoughts on these two trades?
I get: Beltre, Konerko, Price
I give: Michael Young, Werth, Minor, Street, and Nathan
2B: Everth Cabrera
3B: M. Young
OF: McClutchen, Adam Jones, Carlos Gomez
UTL: Werth, Gardner
BN: Kipnis, LaRoche, Grandy (DL), Aybar (DL)
SP: Bumgarner, Strasburg, Minor, Iwakuma, Cahill, Teheran
RP: Nathan, Street, Janssen
I realize it takes a big bite out of my closers, but that's a spot I can get covered easiest.
AND TRADE 2...
I get: Hamels
I give: Morse
3B: Miggy Cabrera
SS: J. Peralta
OF: J. Upton, Morse, Holliday
UTL: Victorino, Cain
BN: Willingham, Gardner, Chris Carter, Aybar (DL)
SP: King Felix, Scherzer, Lester, Ryu, J. Fernandez, Weaver (DL)
RP: Balfour, Jansen
As much as I like Votto, EE/Bum is the far superior combo. Huge upgrade in SP and EE is a solid hitter with 30-40+ HR power in a killer lineup.
Give me Morales personally. I think he'll give most of the power that Reddick will (mid/upper 20 HR's) with better BA and runs. RBI's should be similar, though maybe a little better for Morales.
No go big time. Giving up one of the higher-quality starters and 3rd round pick for a bad SPer, a closer who's struggled, and a later round pick? Yikes.
You wouldn't. I wouldn't. But there's people who will. I guarantee you if Kemp (or Pujols, or anyone else) struggles to get a hit after a couple weeks, and Morse is on a tear, 1/4 to 1/2 of those owners would revisit the trade. You'd be surprised how many people FREAK after 10-15 games.
Frazier is good, but he's more potential than anything else at the moment. I am one who likes holding my early waiver claims for the bigger drops that tend to happen in the first 1-4 weeks of the season.
