    No NA prospects?

    by KB11 Jan 28, 2016 8:52 PM
Greenraven Greenraven Jan 29, 2016 12:11 AM Flag

Hey we meet again, KB11. None of the young prospects seem to have an NA by their names at this point. Only players who were on MLB teams last year but now are free agents still not signed to a MLB team like Marlon Byrd and Alex Rios etc. have the NA by them.

Which adds to the 40 man roster theory + leftovers from those rosters from last year.

Yahoo says they have more prospects than ever so I guess the non 40-man rosters prospects have yet to be loaded. Those are the ones we want to draft so make it happen, Yahoo! Can't draft til they become available.

There are some loaded, others not. Both new prospects and older ones. Like Moncada is missing from rosters who already own him. So is Berrios. But Glasnow is still there. The new Korean player Park with Minnesota has been added. But not AJ Reed.

It isn't no prospects. It is half and half. Which is probably worse.

Since many slow drafts want to start immediately hopefully this will be fixed in the next 24 hours.

    Guy in my league

Who cares. Those prospects aren't worth much other than Judge. But there are better OF prospects this season to take Like Mazara and Brinson and Nick Williams.

Bird eventually should be good but not great and he is currently blocked by Tex anyway.. Take AJ Reed instead if you want an elite 1B prospect.

Reysnyder is probably never going to play at the major league level and if he doesn't, certainly not in NY.

There are far better prospects than any of these guys. Don't ever, EVER, E-V-E-R play as a "homer", that's for losers. Who cares what team your players are on in real life (unless it is a pitcher on the Rockies, haha). So let that idiot draft lower-ranked prospects and then be stuck with them.

If will last all of the next season as well.

If a player doesn't have eligibility coming into 2016 at say 2B but meets those requirements listed during the season he gains it for the rest of the year and all of 2017 as well. If he re-meets those requirements in 2017 he has 2B again for 20128. If he doesn't, he loses 2B in 2018. Like that.

    Keep Bryant or Arenado?

You are right about that line-up slot. He will probably bat right ahead of Rizzo. And with SB = 2 points Bryant's 5 tool ability edges out Arendo for me.

Bryant since he is the 5 tool guy on a great team in a great line-up.

Don't know why you have to choose between them. Do you just keep one player period? If so and depending where you are in the re-draft maybe you can get Arendo back and use Bryant in the OF.

Open for suggestions on Dynasty team

I'd keep Carlos Rodon over Ellsbury who is in major decline and I don't see any rebound in his future. And Rodon gives you a third starter for 2016. Your two prospect SP are great but you have a team to contend right out of the gate with a decent pitching staff added to your bats. Drop Rodon and you will never see him again cause someone will pounce on him immediately.

And it is easier to pick up OFers in the draft than a young pitching stud with such an upside as Rodon. You have Buxton and Sano. So you just need a CF and with Yahoo's 5 starts generous eligibility rules you won't have any problem finding one.

    Maximum League Size (Custom)

Also you can carry more than 30 players once you have drafted and DL and NA slots activate. I don't know how many you are allowed but I play in a league with 5 DL slots and 5 NA slots plus the 30 man roster.

But I didn't know 20 tams was the max. Thanks for that info. That's too bad. I wanted to try a super deep league but don't want to go site-hopping when checking teams daily.

    Keep 8

Hitters: Arendo, Bryant, Abreu, Springer, Correa, Cano (he came on like gang busters last half)
    Pitchers: Arrieta, deGrom

In Yahoo Bryant has OF eligibility this year (5 starts in 2015 makes him eligible there as well as 3B for all of 2016) and you have Arendo for 3B. So with him and Springer you already have 2/3 of your starting OF then add 3B, SS, 1B, 2B with teh rest of your keeper hitters. You only need one starting OF and a C then fill in utility spots and bench in the re-draft. So you can more than afford to take 2 pitchers this year.

Outfielders you can re-draft alone from the drops on your team? Corey Dickerson is in the elite category above but because of his injury last season will be under the radar and easy to pick-up in re-draft. Carlos Gomez could rebound nicely in Houston but his injuries last season keeps him hidden too. Eaton doesn't give you enough power as a 8th keeper but you can re-draft him as well. Conforto still hiding in the weeds. And that's not counting the tons the other owners will have to drop

And why two pitchers? They are among the top 8 players you have available. Always take the best. I used to be all hitters, no pitchers but I tried a different approach in one league and guess what? Having aces makes your team awesome. :-) Best dynasty team I ever managed. It was almost cruise control all season.

And while the other guys are scrambling for their aces you have the option of more aces or more hitters they have to not draft as they scramble for pitching. And deGrom and Arrieta? If you drop them you won't see them again unless you take one in the first round of your re-draft.

PS: Looks at your opponents' rosters and decide who they are keeping? That way you know better what pool you will be re-draft from as well.

So what is your problem? If you aren't the commish of those leagues then ask your commish to consider ending the league sooner. I bet you get out-voted though. Most people want to play as long as they can.
