    Pick two to keep

So no love for Rizzo on any of your guys' choices? Is that just because first base is deeper?

    Pick two to keep

    by Diz Feb 27, 2015 1:15 PM

It's a contract keeper league, which in short, starting last year, we got to choose 2 3-year keepers, 2 2-year keepers and 2 1-year keepers.
I didn't really do a good job picking to start out with haha, but currently under my control I have Freddie Freeman and Starling Marte, as well as Matt Moore and Jurickson Profar (who I will be releasing).
Sonny Gray was one of my one-year keepers, and I don't remember who the other one was, but I've already let him go. Either way these are the best players I have to choose from from my team last year to give new 1-year contract deals.

  • Need to pick two players to have as one-year keepers for this upcoming season.
    Jose Bautista
    Anthony Rizzo
    Anthony Rendon
    Michael Brantley
    Corey Kluber
    Madison Bumgarner
    Sonny Gray

I'm leaning toward Rizzo and Brantley. I like Rendon, but I feel, if Brantley can do what he did again, Brantley would be the better overall choice, though OF is usually deeper. If I chose a pitcher I'm torn between Kluber and Bumgarner. If I went pitcher I might go Kluber. But right now, I'm leaning away from pitching and will look to revamp in the draft.
If anyone can give any helpful feedback/opinions, that would be great. Also, any opinions on if Brantley will do continue hitting and running like he did?
    Anyway, thanks

  • If looking for a break from the big roster/category/keeper leagues, this one might be the one for you.

    Rios or Byrd?

If you need power, go Byrd. If you need some speed with a little better average, go Rios

    Rios, Dickerson or Calhoun?

    by Diz Jul 28, 2014 3:51 PM

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to go for Calhoun, as it seems like he'll provide consistent playing time and definite runs scored. Dickerson really made it tough for me, but I think Calhoun will be the way to go for me.

  • Which of Alex Rios, Corey Dickerson or Kole Calhoun would you rather have the rest of the season?
I'm looking to add one of them via trade, the owner and I should be able to come to an agreement on either of them. Just looking for an outside opinion on who to view highest.
Dickerson's been on a tear anytime he's in the lineup and he plays in Colorado, but that also means he's in a crowded OF.
Calhoun plays on a hot Angels team and will score a ton of runs, besides some power.
And Rios, who may get traded from the Rangers, has been consistent in what he does. Stealing some bases and knocking in some runs with a solid average.
    Which would you rather have?

I had Jose Fernandez before he went down. I was looking forward to some dominance from him, Bumgarner, Gio and now Gray at the SP position, but that hasn't exactly lived up to what I had hoped.

Thanks. And ha, yeah it's okay, I know it's not the greatest put together team right now. I had big ambitions, but things haven't came to fruition.
Alas, that's why I would be in 7th place.

    Kris Bryant

Look for him to hopefully get a call to AAA soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't see time in the big leagues this year until the rosters expand in September.
Next year, I'm sure he'll be starting at 3B or a corner outfield spot, but until then, I'd say September is when he'll be here.
Good thing for the Cubs is Baez is starting to turn things around at AAA now, so hopefully by the time September and such rolls around he'll be ready for his cup of tea.

He is walking at a solid rate too though, so that helps offset some of the strikeouts, and for being a big power hitter he is going to strikeout some, though that rate probably does need to come down some.

Rest of season: Reyes or HanRam?

    by Diz May 30, 2014 3:52 PM

    C - Derek Norris
1B - Freddie Freeman, Anthony Rizzo
2B - Kolton Wong, Anthony Rendon (3B eligibility)
3B - Pedro Alveraz, Nolan Arenado (DL)
SS - J.J. Hardy, Jurickson Profar (2B, eligibility)
OF - Michael Brantley, Angel Pagan, Starling Marte, Jason Heyward, A.J. Pollock
P - Sonny Gray, Madison Bumgarner, Dallas Keuchel, Drew Pomeranz, Garrett Richards, Nathan Eovaldi, Phil Huges, Tony Cingrani, Trevor Bauer, Jordan Lyles, Gio Gonzalez (DL), Matt Moore (DL)

Moore is still on my team because it is a contract keep league and he is under contract, among others. I wouldn't be trying to keep either shortstop, just looking for one for this season. And yes I don't carry any RP, that's just my own strategy.

  • My shortstop is J.J. Hardy (and Jurickson Profar-DL) in a 10-team private league.
The owners of Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez have put each of them on the trading block.
Who will have the better rest of the season - Reyes or Hanley? Or do you think I should stand pat with Hardy, who I picked up in the last couple of days.
    Thanks

Got offered Yelich for Gio Gonzalez...

    by Diz May 14, 2014 12:15 PM

That's what I was thinking. Just looking for confirmation.
Think I should drop Pineda for Ubaldo or Kuechly (misspelled, I'm sure)?
I have so many guys on the DL he's just floating on my roster at the moment.

  • 10-team h2h private league.
My OF consists of Angel Pagan, Starling Marte, Michael Brantley, Jason Heyward and Rajai Davis with Kole Calhoun stashed on my DL.
My SP consists of Gio, Madison Bumgarner, Sonny Gray, Jordan Lyles, Nathan Eovaldi, Garrett Richards, Tony Cingrani (DL), Michael Pineda (DL), Jose Fernandez (DL).
While my OF still needs some help, I don't know if it would be worth it to trade Gio with Fernandez going down and my other DL pitcher problems.
    Any thoughts?
