Sadly, I was going to type almost word for word what Strong said. Not sure what that says about me, but it can't be anything good.
The guy derives half to two thirds of his value from his legs. How does having arthritic knees spell future profits to you?
Question: is it medically possible to "clean out" arthritis? It doesn't work like that.

You don't get credit for the points a player has scored before you added him. It's the exact same argument one could make (if you weren't a believer) for trading for Story now, just in time for the regression.

Strong... we're in this together, I can help you get through this.
How many games has Baltimore played? Answer: 8. How many games has Trumbo played? Answer: 8. In exactly which way does Trumbo not have a starting MLB gig?
Where did Trumbo bat in the order yesterday? How about the day before? And how about the day before that? Answer: 4th.
Your serve spammy.

I'd be a lot more worried if it was 2015. I'm not sure health 2 years in the rearview mirror concerns many owners about any player. Injury can strike any player at any time... but if he's healthy now, and has the starting gig now, then based on that info, and his established career production, it's beyond reasonable to project his career average production, which more than plays in this league.

"18 HR, 50 R, 63 RBI OF with a .250 AVG"... fun with stats! Those are his past 2 years, divided by 2! Yes, BJD... except his 2014 contribution to those stats was in 88 games. You know, as in not playing a full season, the way he projects to with the Orioles?
Maybe we should take the Strong approach, and look at his 162 game average... and what a surprise! 31 HR and 96 RBI. There is zero reason not to project something close to that, given full-time ABs and health (the great equalizers). I don't know of any health issues, do you? Is Nolan Reimold a big threat to his ABs?

My response was in relation to Jamie, tangential to BJD, as are all my subsequent responses to BJD. Your only involvement here appears to be trying to start yet another argument about who replies to who... spamming the board like you spam your league.
Think logically... when have I ever been too shy to reply to you directly, if that was my interest?
- Crasstastic Crasstastic Apr 14, 2016 3:37 PM Flag
BJD, you've been misinformed... probably by #$%$ Strong. Claims =/= fact. If you're saying that 30+ HR and 100 RBI doesn't "return value" in a league his size, then you flat out don't know what you're talking about. You keep repeating "10 team league" like an idiot, ignoring his settings, and have flat out said "it doesn't matter what your slots are".
Crash course in basic arithmetic. A typical yahoo lineup has 9, sometimes 10 (if 2 Util) spots. His league has 13. That means that 40 more players are starting in his league than a typical 10 teamer. Guys that are normally on your bench are starters. Guys that are normally not deserving of your bench are, with that depth. Look at your own league, right now, with just the normal depth, and tell me how many 30-100 guys from last year are unowned.

BJD, have you never gone outside the Yahoo 3 OF bubble before? What kind of gold do you think you're mining in the late rounds, when trying to fill up that CI slot? You've got no clue.
- Crasstastic Crasstastic Apr 14, 2016 2:57 PM Flag
BJD, how can you know what players his opponents are playing in that slot to make that judgement? It's of course possible that someone took a big bat at 1B, then went straight back to CI in round 2... and that same drafter would therefore have some piece of trash in their 5th OF slot from round 18. Or MI. Or Util.

Strong, a reply to your comment would appear underneath yours, and indented. The thread clearly shows that I replied to Jamie. You've been here long enough to know that. Did you think that through before you typed it?
- Crasstastic Crasstastic Apr 14, 2016 2:46 PM Flag
Strong, do you really have nothing better to do than comment on my commentary? Could you at least attempt to provide some sort of baseball-related, substantive analysis? This must be how your leaguemates feel when you spam them with 700 trade offers, hoping for an accidental "Accept" click.
- Crasstastic Crasstastic Apr 14, 2016 2:39 PM Flag
BJD... your argument holds if Trumbo is his #1 OF. But his OF is Harper-Betts-Bautista-Cargo-Blackmon. That's outstanding. Trumbo is his CI. Pickings get slim when you're drafting late in those leagues. I'd be interested in seeing what was still on the board when he picked Trumbo... I doubt there were many "league winning" superstars available at that point. Probably more like DeShields, Davis with a K types (like Trumbo).
- Crasstastic Crasstastic Apr 14, 2016 1:41 PM Flag
It looks like your league is a 5 OF 10 owner league. That means 50 OF total started, forgetting Util and alternate eligibility for a moment. Trumbo ranked 55th last year.... that's worthy of ownership as a bench bat. In addition, his league has CI slot, most of whom are going to be 1B in all likelihood, and Trumbo has 1B.
