Gotchya. So when setting repeat order will it be an option I have to select, or do I have to manually change the order by round/teams.

  • CleartheCrease by CleartheCrease Feb 6, 2016 1:58 PM Flag

Have never used this option before. Looking to set a repeat order rather than snake and wondering how to do it. When you go to 'finalize teams' , are you able to un-finalize at any point if a team decides he can't take part in the league for whatever reason?

sure, post your email like nic did above and I'll send you something.

    cheers

H2H points. 12-14 teams. 25 man rosters (made to mirror actual rosters). IF, LF, CF, RF spots included. See my thread for more info.

  • CleartheCrease CleartheCrease Feb 2, 2016 4:39 PM Flag

Should note the league doesn't have an entirely new set of managers. There's a solid core of atleast half a dozen that I've picked from my various leagues over the years. Good base of competition.

  • H2H Points format.
    12 teams (14 if there's enough interest)
16 keepers after year 1. Keep full rosters after year 2.
    Non money league.
Must have some form of experience.

    25 man Roster Positions

    C

Starting a Points league: Need input

The more I actually think about it. A LF/CF/RF setup might be fun despite me not using it in a long time.

    Something like:
    C
    1B
    2B
    3B
    SS
    MI
    LF
    CF
    RF
    UT
    UT

Kind of resembles a real roster a bit. You may have won me over Ritter.

I haven't played a league with LF/CF/RF in years. That's more alien to me than just doing straight up OF and UT slots. It's all about freedom in a dynasty league for me. You don't want to be restricted. Same goes for the 2 UT. Originally I was going to use 3, but decided to put in a MI just for a fun wrinkle.

As for the pitchers, I actually only meant to put in 3 SP and 2RP. Yes, the rest should be regular P slots.

True enough. In my main dynasty pts league only the top top tier of closers make sense to roster unless you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with the Hellickson's of the fantasy world. If I have a large enough roster and enough pitching slots, closers should still have their place. 2 RP makes sense.

Thinking of doing a set-up as such:

    C
    1B
    2B
    3B
    SS
    MI
    OF
    OF
    OF
    UT

    RP
    RP

    SP

I've been in leagues where middle relievers and subsequently holds were prominent and to be frank, I just didn't like it. I still want to include holds because occasionally a closer will be put in that position and he deserves to be rewarded. But overall, I don't want to make holds a 'target' for team owners.

As for relying on starters/relievers, (I should have mentioned this prior), there will be 2-3 RP slots per team. So each team will be required to fill those spots, either with a closer or a SP/RP eligible player.

Does that aid some of your concerns or do you still foresee issues?
Thanks for responding either way Ritter.

  • Keeper locks: Donaldson, Bautista, Sale, Felix, Stroman (free agent pickup, means 27th round value)

Pick 1. Draft pick compensation involved.:

Kipnis - First available pick (I have 4 of the same type of players so it's a 5th rounder)
Ortiz - First available pick (^ same applies)
    Joc Pederson - 14th round
    AJ Pollock - 14th round
    Corey Seager - 26th round

    Stats:
    R
    H
    HR
    RBI
    SB
    BB
    K
    AVG
    OPS
    XBH

    Thanks!

  • Bear with me please! I've commissioned other league types. Taken part in points formats as a team owner. But haven't set up point values myself. I decided to take the values from one of my current dynasty leagues and tweak it slightly. Looking for advice on whether the tweaks are a good idea and if there could be any complications. I've ran these numbers through excel with a variety of players to get a feel for the effects.

First off, the original points format I based it off of:

    Batter:
    R - 1
    1B - 1
    2B - 2
    3B - 3
    HR - 4
    RBI - 1.5
    SB - 4
    CS - (-1)
    BB - 0.5
    Cyc - 8
    Slam - 3

    Pitcher:
    IP - 1
    W - 10
    L - (-5)
    SV - 6
    BSV - (-2)
    K - 0.5
    CG - 15
    SHO - 15
    NH - 30
    PG - 30
    HLD - 2

It led to these stat totals:
    Revere - 476, Calhoun - 502, Bautista - 650
    Melancon - 431.6, Volquez - 377.8, Greinke - 512.6

After playing in this format for a few years I noticed the hitters had a dominance over pitching. The fact that there's only a 10pt gap between a middle tier bat like Calhoun and Greinke, made me seek changes.

So my first thought was to try to cap the hitters a bit by adjusting runs and rbi.

    (R - 0.5, RBI - 1):
    Revere - 412, Calhoun - 421.5, Bautista - 539.

I like the fact that the upper tier of hitters/pitchers are now more comparable in terms of point totals. Bautista's 539 to Greinke's 512. Aswell as the middle tier. Calhoun's 421.5 to Volquez' 377.8.

A question I want to ask is; should I be holding hitting in higher regard? Baseball does seem to be in the middle of a pitching era to an extent. Perhaps I should modify hitting a bit more gently by keeping runs at (1). Or (and I don't know if this is an option with yahoo baseball shut down for the offseason) I could offer bonuses for big games. Ie, 3 hit games, 4 hit games, multiple home runs. I figure since pitchers have insane bonus' for CG and SHO, it's only fair.

Anyways thank you to whoever got through this post. I truly appreciate any insight.
    Cheers!

Another guy I didn't mention is Crocket Gillmore but he was really only on my radar with Flacco healthy. Rudolph has always seemed TD dependent to me but I can't remember the last time I saw one of his games so I don't know how he's being used.

For arguments sake it's Luck and AJ Green. Just wanted to see what type of reaction I would incite without that context. There are some serious Questions regarding Foster going forward but there's nobody competing with him in Houston so atleast there's some security there. I guess it comes down to Foster, Graham or Allen.

  • In a ppr. Edelman, Jimmy Graham, Keenan Allen or Arian Foster?

My other keepers are locks (QB and WR). Need two more. (QB/3WR/2RB/TE/K/DEF) Doing some wheeling n dealing with the trade deadline tomorrow.
