    Problems Inviting Returning Members

    by nicky p Jul 19, 2014 11:33 AM
Christine Christine Jul 19, 2014 1:06 PM Flag

Try this; it might work as long as the manager is logged in with the same ID that he/she used last season.

    Commish Tools
Under League Management, select Invites Settings, then "Invite more players."

You should see "Get started by inviting friends to your league" and "You can also invite friends by sending them a link." Copy and paste the complete link and send it to the managers who have been unable to join your renewed league.

If that fails, post a request for assistance on the Fantasy Sports Community Forum page. Jake (Community Support Manager) was very helpful in resolving an invitation problem that I encountered with my renewed league.

Safe to assume that you meant 2014 (not 2015)?

    Bench spots?

    by LayneInsane Jul 17, 2014 9:36 AM
Christine Christine Jul 17, 2014 11:17 AM Flag

Your settings are the same as my 14-team league's with one exception: we've included one IR slot. Six is adequate to cover adjustments for bye weeks and short-term injuries. Too many bench positions encourages hoarding of players.

    This cant be good

Christine Christine Jul 12, 2014 10:58 PM Flag

The notice about downtime for planned maintenance is posted on fantasy baseball league pages as well as football leagues; it applies to all fantasy sports (hence the term "our servers") and is being conducted at times that appear to pose minimal inconvenience. Yahoo is also preparing to launch pro leagues for fantasy football; projected availability is the last week of July, possibly earlier (as posted by Jake, Community Support Manager, on the Fantasy Sports Community Forum website).

The maintenance is planned and is being announced in advance. The downtime doesn't interfere with baseball because it occurs during the all star break. Hours on Monday, July 14, and Thursday, July 17, are during the slowest traffic times of the day (using East Coast bias, that's 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.).

    Don't be an Eeyore.

    league has been accidentally set

If you mean that your custom league's team list has been "locked" or finalized" (copied from Yahoo Help article SLN6241):

    Unlock your team list
Warning! Unlocking your teams list will reset any changes you've made to your draft order or picks.
From your league's homepage, click Commish Tools
Under "Draft Management," click Finalize Team List
    Click Unlock Teams
In the "Confirm Unlock Teams" window, click Unlock Teams

Yahoo not getting the starting line ups right (again)

    Coped from the website fantasyalarm:

Victor Martinez (side) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday.
As we reported Thursday, the Tigers are probably holding V-Mart out of action the entire weekend. They will let him recover and expect him to be healthy for the second half. 11 Jul, 04:32 PM

Scroll to the bottom of your team's page and click the word "Legend" (it's in a separate row below the roster and the Save Changes and Cancel buttons). That will produce a pop-up that explains the color-coding of the notes boxes as well as an explanation of what the caret and X represent.

^ = Probable Starter (announced for starting lineup)
x = Batter Not in Starting Lineup (may still play)

Go to a website called fantasyalarm for MLB lineups; they're usually posted hours before game time and are updated when changes occur.

In that same group, you will also be able to designate playoff seedings from the three options that are available.

Remember to click the blue Submit button when done.

    what does this mean?

    by Jane F. Jul 1, 2014 3:06 AM
Christine Christine Jul 1, 2014 3:29 AM Flag

It means that your custom league's commissioner has set a team limit of six free agent/waiver wire acquisitions per week. Drops and trades do not count against this limit. Click "Scoring & Settings" from your league's home page for all settings that apply to your league.

A normal "week" is Monday through the following Sunday. Week 15, which includes MLB's all star break, is July 7 through July 20, and teams will be allocated only their usual one-week limit of acquisitions, i.e., they will not double.

    Manny Machado status?

    by Dubbz Jun 30, 2014 10:36 PM
Christine Christine Jun 30, 2014 11:29 PM Flag

Machado's suspension is not drug-related, so he does not qualify for NA status.

(Copied from Yahoo Help article SLN7945)

The NA (Not Active) designation is used for the following situations:

    1. Players who are holding out
    2. Players who are serving MLB drug-related suspensions.
    3. Players who are on the MLB Bereavement List.
    4. Players who are on the MLB Paternity Leave List.
    5. Players who have been sent to the minor leagues or are not on an official 40-man roster.
Example: Non-roster invitees to spring training.
    6. Players who are injured for an indefinite amount of time but have not been placed on the official MLB Disabled List.

Only the main commissioner of the previous season has the option to renew a league. If the outgoing commissioner does not transfer powers to you, you can re-create the league.

There are two Yahoo Help articles that might be useful to you:

SLN6421 (Renewing custom leagues in Fantasy Football)
SLN6801 (Renewing league in Fantasy Baseball) -- follow the same instructions to re-create your Fantasy Football league; be sure to read the caution about keepers if this applies to your group

Windows 8 is an operating system, not a web browser. The latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Exploder (ugh) support secure uploading. Other web browsers exist but these are the most commonly used by PC owners.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of your team page and click the word "Legend" for pop-up that contains a complete explanation.

Red square = New player notes in the last 24 hours (This replaces the yellow square with the asterisk.)
Yellow square = Player notes available
Grey square = No new player notes available
^ = Probable Starter (announced for starting lineup)
x = Batter Not in Starting Lineup (may still play)

    From Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Help:

When players are placed on the DL by an MLB team, there may be a short period where a player displays NA status (as they have been removed from the MLB team's 25-man active roster) prior to being updated with DL status by our data provider.

Premium add-ons, including trade reviews, are available only to Pro Leagues. These are public head-to-head, pay-to-play leagues.

    Where's Jimmy Nelson

    by Nomad Jun 15, 2014 12:25 PM
Christine Christine Jun 15, 2014 1:50 PM Flag

He's in the player pool and listed as Not Active. Try searching by name (Nelson) only and do not filter by position. Jimmy Nelson qualifies as a "pitcher" only at this time; he needs two more starts to gain starting pitcher eligibility.

want to leave the league I'm in

    by Robert W Jun 13, 2014 4:54 PM
Christine Christine Jun 13, 2014 11:50 PM Flag

You can only remove yourself from a public league if your league's draft room has not opened; if it is a Pro League, 72 hours before your league's draft is scheduled to take place.

    Removing your team
    1. Navigate to the appropriate Fantasy Sport overview page (Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey).
    2. Click Edit Teams (should be to the right of My Teams and Leagues).
    3. Click Delete Team.
    4. To confirm, click Delete Team.
