Why is everyone doing their drafts at the exact same time (Sunday at 7:30)?

Good Lord stop being so damned lazy and post something about the bloody team besides its best player. It is a 26 man roster, who gives a rat's #$%$ who the best player is?

Is that a typo that you have only 2 SP slots, it is very likely that you will have it happen more than once that your top 3 (or any 3) of your SP's will pitch on the same day and thus you could lose your matchup for the week just because your pitchers lined up that way. Heck they could even get on the same schedule and it could happen back to back to back starts. That setting could literally cost the best team a championship even while that teams players had the best week.

#$%$ is wrong with all of these LAZY LM's if you are too lazy to post your specifics on the advertisement for you league I certainly do not trust you to do a good job running your league. Stop being such a tool and actually post rosters and settings in your ad.

    Initial Set Up

    Draft Order
First thing we will do is to have a random draft generator select our draft order. The franchise selection draft will be the first draft and the draft order will be exactly as it is provided to us by FFToolbox – it will be a snake draft. The second draft will be the MLB draft and this draft will be in inverse order of the first draft and it too will be a snake draft. The third draft will be the MiLB draft and it will start from the middle of the FFToolbox draft order and work outwards the order will be 7, 8, 6, 9, 5, 10, 4, 11, 3, 12, 2, 13, 1, 14 and it too will be a snake draft.

    Franchise selection
Once provided with our draft order the franchise selection draft will occur. In this draft each manager will have two picks with which to select a MLB and a MiLB franchise. Managers may select either of these franchises with their first round pick but must select the OTHER franchise with their second pick. Ie,. If a manager chooses his MLB franchise with his first round pick he must select a MiLB franchise with his second round pick. Once a franchise is selected it is taken out of the draft pool a franchise can be MiLB or MLB but it cannot be both.

    Keeper Selection (MLB)
Once your MLB franchise is selected it is time for you to select 15 keepers from this franchise. The only qualification to be selected as a keeper is that the player must be in the ESPN system so that the player can be added to your ESPN roster. You may select pure prospects or 10 year veterans as long as they are in the Player Pool. None of these players are protected in any way and if you drop them you lose them. You may not move prospects from your keepers down into your minor league system. Once your keepers are selected this franchise is now meaningless to your ESPN team you will never again have any claim on it and other teams may draft this franchise’s players (that you did not name a keeper) in the MLB and the MiLB drafts.

    Keeper Selection (MiLB)
For your MiLB team you will name 22 keepers who will be signed players for your MiLB franchise and who have any level of experience UNDER 130ab and 50 ip at the MLB level. You own every prospect in this system but you may only PROTECT 22 of them. Protection means that even if these players go over 130 ab or 50 ip they are guaranteed to be yours for the whole year and you do not have to have them on your ESPN roster. It also means that if this player is traded to another team in the real world that you still control his rights. If you do not protect a player from your franchise’s MiLB system and that player is traded you lose any claim on that player. If you do not protect a player and he crosses the 130 ab or 50 ip threshold during the season that player may be picked up by any manager in the league. You may keep other managers from claiming this player by putting him on your ESPN roster before he actually reaches those thresholds, remember you own every prospect in the system whether you protected them or not so for as long as they are under 130 ab and 50 ip you own them and may call them up to your ESPN roster at any time.

    Team Names
Your team name will also be your name on the Proboards site (those of you who have already joined can edit your name later). Your team name must have something to do with your MiLB franchise and it must be obvious to the rest of the league who you are. If you are the Yankees you may be the Bronx Bombers if you like. About the most obscure name I would allow would be something along the lines of “Loveable Losers” for the Cubs.

    First Year MLB Draft
The MLB draft will begin once the MiLB and ESPN keepers have been declared and finalized on Proboards. For this year only it will be a snake draft and the draft will be in inverse order of the Franchise Selection Draft order. In the MLB portion of the draft no players with ZERO MLB experience may be chosen. If a player is a pure prospect he may not be chosen in this draft. Period. End of Discussion, there are no exceptions. Players with under 130 ab and under 50 ip who play for one of the other 13 managers MiLB teams are off limits too as they are part of that managers’ farm system. Other than that players are fair game as long as they are in the ESPN player pool, if a player is not in the pool he cannot be drafted in the MLB portion of the draft. This draft will be 15 rounds long and will bring the total ESPN roster up to 30.

    First Year MiLB Draft
Again, for this year only, the MiLB draft will be a snake draft. Its relation to the original randomly generated draft order will be as follows: 7, 8, 6, 9, 5, 10, 4, 11, 3, 12, 2, 13, 1, 14. The manager who picked 7th in the franchise selection draft will pick first in the MiLB draft. In the MiLB draft players do not have to be in the ESPN player pool but they do have to have signed a contract. Unsigned players, even if their rights are owned, cannot be drafted. Players have to have under 130 ab and 50 ip to be drafted in the MiLB draft. No player may be selected in this draft who belongs to one of the other 13 owned MiLB franchises from our league. This draft will be 8 rounds long and will bring the MiLB roster total up to 30.
