it's at this point I wish I was employed with Yahoo! so I could say good riddance..
poor manager not poor services.. and if you are really into fantasy sports, you'd know by now that the best information is never supplied by the hosts of the actual services.. it's on actual fantasy update sites where ESPN and Yahoo! actually draw their information from.. I'd tell you, but nah.
Hey all, I'm dead last this year after a year of injuries and underperformers, the league is a 10 team, 4 player keeper league. My keepers right now.. are between these players --
Anze Kopitar - C
Jason Spezza - C
Tyler Seguin - C,RW
Thomas Vanek - LW
Patrick Sharp - RW,LW,C
Jonathan Quick - G
Because of the value of goalies and goalie games being met (points only max games played league) I don't want to enter the draft without a goalie and right now Quick is my best option, kept him from last season.
I would be keeping Kopitar, Quick, Spezza, and either Vanek or Seguin so I'm a little torn on that front, however, our trade deadline is the 11th and creeping up, another team is selling some players for picks including Kessel, James Neal, and Claude Giroux... I would like to get a player like Giroux on my team after he's had somewhat of a disappointing season.. Through my season acquisitions and trades etc., I've managed to acquire a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick on top of my existing picks.. leaving me with my original 1st round pick (which right now is looking like 1st OVERALL), two 2nd rounders, two 3rd rounders, two 4th rounders, and two 5th rounders.
I was thinking that I would offer either Vanek or Sharp and 2 picks, would have to be my first overall, including another top pick, do you think it matters which round after the first? it would have to be either a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th.. or is that giving up too much for Giroux? Normally I think not, but as I'm in a rebuilding of my team would it hurt me more? or is this part of the rebuild. Please help me out.
Okay, I'll try and keep this short and sweet.. 10 team league.. 4 keepers per team no penalty for keepers.. G-3pts, A-2pts, +/- 1pt, PPP-1pt, PIM-0.5pts, Shots-0.4pts (will be adding hits and blocked shots not sure on scoring value yet), W's-4pts, Sv-0.2pts, SO-2pts, GA- (-1)pt.
Here is my roster (it's already been blown up and I've acquired a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick).
C - Anze Kopitar
C - Jeff Carter (C/RW)
LW - Andrew Ladd
LW - Thomas Vanek
RW - Jerome Iginla
RW - P.A. Parenteau
D - Drew Doughty
D - Jake Muzzin
D - Brent Burns
D - Dougie Hamilton
BN - Mike Richards
BN - Zach Bogosian
BN - Jiri Tlusty
BN - Carl Hagelin
IR - Jason Spezza
IR - Patrick Sharp (C, LW, RW)
G - Jonathan Quick
G - Braden Holtby
G - Semyon Varlamov
So, with Iggy being traded, I've been offered Tyler Seguin for him straight up my only problem is should I keep Seguin over Spezza? .. my proposed 4 keepers are Anze Kopitar, Thomas Vanek, Jason Spezza, and Jonathan Quick.. so as you can see, I'm wondering if I should snag Seguin and keep him over someone else? .. RW's are hella deep this year compared to LW so that's why I would even entertain keeping a LW.. and to keep in mind, I'm in last place right now (yeahhh.. it's that type of year for me).. so I could end up with first overall pick, and then 8 more selections by the end of the 5th round after the 4 keepers of course.
I will return any question/answers to your posts if you guys lend a helping hand here.. just need some input .. Thanks.

my problem with 'injury risk' is that every player is an injury risk.. no matter how big you are, and no matter what team you're playing for, any player has the potential to go out there and end their career with an injury every single time they lace up. Vanek has had injuries in the past yes, and he missed a couple games this season due to maintenance... but don't be deceived, this condensed schedule is going to have a lot more wear on the players this season than if it were a regular 82 game season. I like having Vanek on my team, however I also like Benn. However I believe because of the team Vanek plays for, I do like the opinion of him being more consistent than Benn (not like I'm a fan of the Sabres but they are a better team than Dallas, just not showing it).

My problem with Kovalchuk stems kind of from a personal bias. He openly admitted that he wants to play in the KHL instead of the NHL prior to the shortened season starting and I just would have a hard time investing in someone who feels like he has nothing left to prove in the NHL, he's got the big contract, he knows he has a spot in the KHL to play at home, and wasn't overly excited that the season was resuming in January. I guess it's an unfair bias but I know myself that I wouldn't want to use a keeper on a player who is not mentally in the game or less motivated than he should be.

well, now.. I give my trade an F.. the trade was accepted prior to tonight's game and well, it looks like I might have just lost him for some time which hurts. But I still have Ladd and have access to pick up Conacher. My LW's are Vanek and Ladd. If Sharp is moved to IR quickly, I can pick up Conacher and have Vanek, Conacher, and Ladd.

LWL also has an app for android and iOS, also a nice tool is seeing the line changes with regards to who plays first/second PP and whatnot. It updates after game days and it helps with snagging sleepers in the draft or on WW

I imagine you've got some time left before you have your keepers locked, Spezza would be the best option as long as he comes back strong from his back surgery. It will be pretty interesting to see if he can make it back with a couple weeks left before playoffs and if he plays strong I think you've answered your own question

bump, I'm looking for a bit more input, I personally feel great about it but feedback is always nice and helps to put things into perspective. Keep in mind I got his 4th round pick next year for my 11th.

the Ducks seem to be a lot stronger team right now with regards to goal scoring. The other beauty is TOI, Getzlaf will trump Sedin in TOI every game. What do the rest of your LW's look like?

If I was a Seguin owner it'd be pretty hard to convince me to trade him. Subban rubs me the wrong way, held out, has a short contract with the Habs, and it's very possible that there is another holdout when the time comes for him to resign. If you are offering for Seguin it's worth a shot as anything is possible and there have been much worse trades accepted across leagues.
