    Rank These OFs

Depends on your team. Regardless, I'm putting Blackmon at #3. If you want power, then Martinez. If you want speed, and a little bit more youth, Marte.

  • So... Apparently Greinke (who I've got) does not equal Chris Sale in terms of value in a dynasty league (entire rosters kept). So... The question, now, is what does Greinke equal? Is Greinke better/worse than Sale to begin with? Thinking about offering for Kluber. Maybe Syndergaard, Price, Archer, DeGrom, Scherzer. You can rank them in terms of dynasty, or just offer thoughts.

    Current Roster, 20 teams total.....
    C – Kyle Schwarber
    1B – Freddie Freeman
    2B – Daniel Murphy
    3B – Manny Machado
    SS – Starlin Castro
    OF1 – Giancarlo Stanton
    OF2 – Adam Jones
    OF3 – Billy Burns
    Util1 – Evan Gattis
    Util2 – Jarron Dyson
Bench – Rougned Odor, Devon Travis, Andrelton Simmons, Jorge Polanco, Adam Duvall
    NA – Pedro Alvarez
    SP1 – Madison Bumgarner
    SP2 – Zack Greinke
    RP1 – Cody Allen
    RP2 – Dellin Betances
    P1 – Stephen Strasburg
    P2 – Jeff Samardzija
    P3 – Taijuan Walker
    P4 – James Paxton
    Bench – Mychal Givens

Who should I keep in a head to head league?

    Need more information.

If you already have Chris Davis and Paul Goldschmidt, I'd probably go with Sano.

If you already have Manny Machado and Miguel Cabrera, I'd probably go with Hosmer.

You haven't provided us enough information to answer the question for you.

    Bautista for Pollock?

    by Storm Mar 2, 2016 12:36 AM
    Brock W Brock W Mar 2, 2016 1:38 AM Flag

Well.... You want to compete with the other dude when it comes to power, or you want to try and beat him a different way? Personally, I'm not sure that I trust Pollock. Dude's only had one good season. But, if you're going to be competing against this guy for years to come, I think I'd stand pat. You're going to have a tough time beating him when it comes to Encarnacion, Harper and Stanton for power. My strategy would probably be to let him have the HR and RBI category, try to win R, SB, AVG, OPS.

    Who would you keep?

I'd go with Duffy for the multi-position eligibility and position scarcity at 2B. Not sure that it matters after that. If you can't find some speed in the outfield in a 12 team league.... that's a problem.

Depends on who you get in the 7th vs the 14th.

Cueto for Arrieta as a basis is not a trade that I'd be interested in though if I were you.

Not good. I honestly feel like I've got a better one in a 20-team league.

You've got some good prospects and a good outfield, but I'd only grade them as good, like B, B+. Nothing on the roster strikes me as an A. The infield, while moderately young, isn't sure-fire and it isn't going to do much for you this season. No real closer on the roster. No ace pitcher.

Managers keep (generally) their entire roster from one season to the next.

  • Get - Mike Trout, Ken Giles
Give - Freddie Freeman, Rougner Odor, Adam Jones, Jorge Soler, Jeff Samardzija.

    Current Roster (20 teams).................
    C – Kyle Schwarber
    1B – Freddie Freeman
    2B – Daniel Murphy
    3B – Manny Machado
    SS – Starlin Castro
    OF1 – Giancarlo Stanton
    OF2 – Adam Jones
    OF3 – Billy Burns
    Util1 – Evan Gattis
    Util2 – Jarron Dyson
Bench – Rougned Odor, Devon Travis, Andrelton Simmons, Jorge Polanco, Adam Duvall
    NA – Pedro Alvarez
    SP1 – Madison Bumgarner
    SP2 – Zack Greinke
    RP1 – Cody Allen
    RP2 – Dellin Betances
    P1 – Stephen Strasburg
    P2 – Jeff Samardzija
    P3 – Taijuan Walker
    P4 – James Paxton
    Bench – Mychal Givens

So, say I make the deal, Murphy slides to first. Got a race (Odor vs Travis) at 2nd base and a lesser race at SS (Castro vs Simmons). I'd try and get an old slugger like David Ortiz with one of the losers or a little extra. Get enough saves to compete after that. Just patiently wait on a break-out from Walker or Paxtion. Seems legit, right? Pick up a couple guys from my draft or waivers because there wouldn't be a lot of depth left over.

On the other hand. I'm not exactly steeaaaling Giles if I give up Samardzija for him. I certainly have a need for Giles, but the other fellow only has him to close, so he wants to keep him. And, if you add up Freeman, Jones, Odor and Soler, you've got 70 HR last year. Freeman, Odor and Soler all have room to grow. Jones can rebound. Other guy has 0 first basemen. Maaaaybe Trout hits 50 HR.

Anyway, I'll shutup. What do you think?

  • 20 teams, H2H, standard + OBP & HLDs. Keep entire rosters one season to the next.

    Give: Greinke, Gattis, Castro
Get: Max Scherzer, Zach Britton, Byron Buxton

    Current Roster....
    C – Kyle Schwarber
    1B – Freddie Freeman
    2B – Daniel Murphy
    3B – Manny Machado
    SS – Starlin Castro
    OF1 – Giancarlo Stanton
    OF2 – Adam Jones
    OF3 – Billy Burns
    Util1 – Evan Gattis
    Util2 – Jarron Dyson
Bench – Rougned Odor, Devon Travis, Jorge Polanco, Pedro Alvarez, Andrelton Simmons
    NA – Lewis Brinson
    SP1 – Madison Bumgarner
    SP2 – Zack Greinke
    RP1 – Cody Allen
    RP2 – Dellin Betances
    P1 – Stephen Strasburg
    P2 – Jeff Samardzija
    P3 – Taijuan Walker
    P4 – James Paxton
    Bench – Mychal Givens
    NA – Andersin Espinoza

I paid a little bit for a closer. I needed one. Britton is pretty good. And, I bet on Scherzer being a little younger and in a better ball-park than Greinke. More strike-outs. I think I probably overpaid on Byron Buxton, hoping that he'll be close to as good as Carlos Correa. I'd probably move Machado to SS, Murphy to 3B, and Odor to 2B to fill the hole behind Castro. Alvarez serves as a good power option behind Freeman and on utility. Lots of depth in the infield. In the outfield, it's a little thin now that the trade is done. I dunno'. What do you think?

Keeper Advice: Justin Upton or Adam Jones?

For the last 3-4 years, I would have told you Jones. After last year, I'd tell you Upton. And I traded Upton for Jones at the beginning of last season in my dynasty league, dammit!

    Completed Dynasty Trade - Thoughts?

27 home runs is a lot to lose from Gattis. And I think he could probably hit 30-35. Sure, Scherzer will be better than Greinke, and I did get a much needed closer, but just because Buxton is one of the best prospects in baseball, that doesn't mean #$%$ for his MLB career.

Ultimately, I guess Scherzer Greinke, and Britton Castro (at least on my roster), so I shouldn't be too concerned about Buxton vs Gattis. I'm just going to miss the HR.

    Carlos Correa or Nolan Arenado?

    Brock W Brock W Mar 15, 2016 2:30 AM Flag

I'm with the crew that says drop Price. He's older and he can't help you when it comes to saves. That means he's only valuable in 5 categories at most. Arenado, Correa, and Trout can probably all do that as well, if not be valuable in all 6 offensive categories.

I feel like you should have a better 2nd starter than Wainwright, but the offense is nice as long as Tulo holds up. Is Pedro Alvarez available in this league? He's a decent bet to be at least .230 and 25-30 HR, 80 RBI. Things go well, I bet .250, 35 HR, 100 RBI. I'd probably drop Soler immediately. He's supposed to share time with Schwarber in left, and get less time than Schwarber. I'm not real excited by anyone that you listed from the list of available SP. Have a look at a prospect list. Maybe a guy like Taijuan Walker breaks through this year? The end of your pitching rotation intrigues me. Could go well. Could go very badly.

I don't know if I trust Carrasco like I do Felix, but Felix seems to be showing some age or just slowing down or... He's not quite "King" any more. I'm not sure why you're taking a pitcher, but hey... I guess I would go with Carrasco. He doesn't have the mileage that Felix does. More upside to the pick.

    Keep Schwarber or Fielder

    by Devin W Mar 15, 2016 9:03 AM
    Brock W Brock W Mar 15, 2016 12:23 PM Flag

Eh... Fielder isn't going to hit 40 homers again. But, Schwarber probably isn't going to hit .300 any time soon. I guess I'd say Schwarber due to age and position scarcity. And who knows, maybe you find a really good deal on a catcher during your draft. Switch him to OF or Util. He can't hit lefties, but he did put up 16 homers in... 220 ABs? Compare that to Fielder in 600. Plus, Schwarber's OPS was actually .001 higher than Fielder last year. Believe that one?
