Draft and Trade Talk Message Board

No reason for the Twins to activate his contract, so I can't picture him being up before July. I wouldn't expect anything even close to Trout this year, but his potential upside is probably on a similar, but not quite as good of level. I'd concur with someone else who said 20 homers and 50 steals when he gets full grown. As a prospect, I'd snag him for sure though.

I'd prefer Adams. He's still got hype, and 30-homer potential. Lawrie, at this point, is post-hype if you ask me. Consider the AL vs NL pitching and line-ups surrounding the players as well.

Meh. Six in one, half dozen in the other.
If it were me, I'd probably pass. Headley isn't exactly a perennial 30 HR guy, but he ain't a bad 3B either and Holliday isn't exactly going to replace McCutchen. So, you figure if you do make the deal, then you have to find someone to sell Headley or another player. Your overall upgrade isn't that great. In fact, I'm not sure if there even is one at all. In addition, the guys you're trading for ain't exactly young.

I like the mix of speed and power in your offense, well balanced. I don't know what the hell you did with your bench though. If it were me, I'd be trying to trade Braun. Whether the guy was actually on roids or not, you know for sure that it's a distraction when he goes out there and plays the game and he's probably not ever going to hit the ceiling again that he had a few years ago. Someone like McCutchen would be the ideal replacement, but an Adam Jones or Jay Bruce plus a prospect or bench player upgrade might not be a bad idea either. In addition, anything that I've heard about Polanco has been that he's another McCutchen in the making. Hence, trading Braun might not hurt so bad. The last three prospects that you have listed, Perez, Benson and Loewen - I've never heard of them. That's not saying a ton, but it is saying something. If you can keep them without it costing you a roster spot, fine. However, dropping them for other prospects couldn't hurt anything. The last thing I'll say, I'd work on making that pitching staff younger if possible. I like your idea of depth over top quality pitchers. In a 20-team dynasty, that works. Get yourself some prospect pitchers. Syndergaard comes to mind as one that I know isn't part of the player pool yet. I'm sure there are others. In a 20-teamer, you got a pretty good team. However, that window could be closing.

PS - I replied to your topic because I'd seen you reply to a number of other people and no one had replied to you yet. Thank you for being a good Samaritan.
We've got 20 teams. Head to head format with standard scoring.
C - T. D'Arnaud
1B - F. Freeman
2B - M. Carpenter
3B - M. Machado
SS - S. Castro
OF - G. Stanton, J. Upton, R. Davis
Util - C. Hart, E. Bonifacio
Bench - M. Dominguez, P. Konerko, A. Hechavarria, J. Soler, Gary Sanchez
SP - C. Hamels, M. Bumgarner
RP - D. Farquhar, R. Brothers
P - J. Chacin, Y. Gallardo, T. Walker, T. Skaggs
Bench - C. Allen, D. Hudson, C. Billingsley, J. Mejia, J. Paxton, J. Walden
I've got to immediately dump three of these guys. Those three will likely be Konerko, Hudson and Hechavarria, possibly Mejia or Walden. I've got the 5th waiver claim for the draft, which means that Bradley, Buxton, Tanaka and Abreu will all likely have been taken. I'm thinking about Gregory Polanco or Javier Baez as my pick, but I'm open to suggestions. Obviously there's a need for a true closer since I'm not sure Farquhar or Brothers are going to have that job. However, closers do tend to come and go, so I'm not in desperate need there. I do, however, need bounce-backs from Stanton, Hamels, Castro and Gallardo. Any guesses who will bounce back and who won't? Should I focus on offense or pitching? I'd like to trade Justin Upton. He's just never lived up to the hype in my book, and I'd like to target Jay Bruce, Adam Jones or Andrew McCutchen. Any packaging thoughts? It's been suggested that I throw Skaggs or Paxton in and make sure that I get the guy I want. I've also considered trying to trade Hamels for Greinke and a throw-in. Same age, similar numbers, Greinke plays for the better team and is probably considered the lesser pitcher. I'm also considering trying to make a run at Yan Gomes to play catcher. I think he could be had on the cheap and have some decent pop, especially from the catcher spot. Thanks for any help.

Standard scoring and standard position format. 2 util. Draft is done via waiver priority. That team is probably 10thish in the draft, I believe. Keep our entire rosters year to year. What else?

Just extra bench spots. C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P .... The rest is bench. 3 DL spots.
