Commissioner Corner Message Board

Well you can ask the commish to extend the trading wait time for people to get enough time to review a trade. But if there are not enough people in your league that care I suggest joining a league where there is a little money even $25-$50 changes how people play. Its the difference between playing poker for free vs. for real. I used to run a free league and constantly had to battle dumb trades now we play at $100 a head and I have a 5 vetoe system for a 12 team league and trading and active managers are way better. Plus we have to wait 3 days so there is no excuse for managers not to be able to view trades

Depends on what the starting options are how many WR, TE, RB etc and is it a PPR. If you only start 1 TE and you have 3 great 1s why not upgrade a WR spot? He may be getting the better end of it but your team gets better. If you can have him include FAAB in the trade if he is getting 4 pts a game better and you 2 or whatever it ends up being.

a few years ago I set up our league to league vote on trades in a 12 team league and it only took 4 votes to kill it. Problem is the voting is anonymous. So if you were the #1 team and saw the #2 and #3 trading each other and each team is getting better you could vote no. Or if your opponent next week was getting AP you could vote no. Anyway after everyone got a trade vetoed no trades went thru. So what I did is I set it to commissioner approved but with league voting actually ruling the trades. I figure in a 12 team league minus the two involved in the trade it leaves 10 teams affected by it so it takes 5 votes to veto a trade. If you can't convince half the league its fair it is a no go. So I set the trade time to 3 days giving all parties ample time to view it. After a trade is proposed I post it under topics(where the votes are posted), email the league, and post it on each matchup page for maximum visibility. Since then I have not had any issues. You could do the same thing but say 3 no votes kill any trades. Having to put your name and reason why on a no vote makes for more honest and open transactions.

Technically Ties are counted as half a win and half a loss so his computed record would be 7-6 and if he has more points than you he gets in. I suggest your league go to decimal scoring. I assume in your league if a RB rushes for 99 yds they get 9 points instead of 9.9.

These defensive settings reward splash plays and make the top defensive player a low end 2nd round pick in a snake draft but out of the top 100 players about 45 would be defensive players. But out of your top 50 def players 35 are going to be LBs thus the ability to start 4. Hope this helps this will basically double the value of rounds 3-8

Same problem. I told the bottom 4 to set up their teams after waivers and then I will lock their lineups in and lock their teams and post their matchups in the comments section. It sucks but i dont know what else I can do. Next year im doing commisioner scheduling to avoid this.

Well they both gained something by doing it essentially garunting each other a playoff trip. They put themselves in a position to do so. So i see no problem with it.

All you have to do is adjust points on weekly matchups until the team you want in has a record good enough to qualify for the playoffs. It is in commisioner tools to adjust points

I run a 12 team league and we let the top 7 go to the playoffs. Teams 8-11 fight it out for the People's Champ. 12th gets the shaft and no postseason play. The Shaft has their team renamed on a Weekly Basis by the Peoples Champ the following season. Which is funny and cruel. Also the loser of the Weeks biggest blowout has their team renamed by the winner for the week. We also award $5 FA/AB to the winner of the weekly pick 'em game Yahoo has. We also start of the season with a #$%$ talking commissioner. They pick the weeks best #$%$ talker and the winner gets $3 FA/AB and becomes the commissioner the following week. Max times you can win in a season is 3 and you cant pick the person who chose you. Also we auction draft which is great. Also we do commissioner scheduling so in week 13 the top 4 teams play each other for the 1 bye week that the #1 team gets. Also the bottom 2 play each other to avoid the shaft. Teams 5-10 play each other with a 7 vs 8 matchup creating a win and in matchup heading into the playoffs. Also the Shaft has a physical punishment which I won't share on this post but it is pretty funny.
Last year I got the shaft and have had terrible names this year. Luckily I am the #1 seed this year and will probably play for a championship. Another thing I left out is because we do commissioner scheduling we play all 17 weeks. So teams 5-12 are involved in call-out games in week 16 and every team is in week 17. Call out games are where you call out who you want to play. When you do this however you have to cover the spread if you are predicted to win and beat the spread if you are predicted to lose. All games are $10 bets or more. You can't decline a call out. So even if your team sucks and is predicted to lose by 20 you essentially have even matchups across the board. On the off chance the yahoo spread is perfectly matched no money is owed. And if there are lame owners who dont want to play I set their matchups with other lame owners and bench their teams since the season is over.
I have a rule book for my league. About 5 pages. The first half applies to both of my leagues the second to my keeper league only. I can email you it if you want.
