Draft and Trade Talk Message Board

Altuve gives you 50+ SB and 80+R...as he can win that SB CAT for you almost by himself. How are you going to replace those 50+ SB? Really the only thing you're getting from Cano is MAYBE an additional 15 HR & an extra 35 RBI. Cano is not likely to ever be the 30HR Cano again...hitting in Seattle. Pablebon is an excellent Closer but Closers get hurt or they dont perform and get replaced - and if you wait a few weeks a Closer will appear out of nowhere and you can pick him up off the Waiver Wire. Last year I got Britton that way and he was terrific. It's not a bad trade but you're giving away your SB edge...when you could keep Altuve and just wait until a Closer yet to be named appears in a month or so...

So I SHOULD draft Chris Carter and his 37HR 68R 88RBI 5 SB and .227BA but I should NOT draft Giancarlo Stanton and his 37HR 89R 105RBI 13 SB and .288BA? Oh OK...let me go change my rankings right now.

Some managers just love to trade just for the sake of trading...others won't trade unless they are convinced the deal makes their team better. I am in the latter group - so I don't trade a lot because most trade offers are jokes, and then you counter and the other manager disappears. I try my best to build from the draft and then FA adds...and then maybe I need to make ONE trade that gets me over the hump.

Unfortunately Tulo can't be counted on...2011 AB 537, 2012 181, 2013 446, 2014 315. He looks like an MVP an then he gets hurt. I would draft Donaldson (he's a legit 30HR 100RBI guy) and move down in the draft for #$%$

Montero is at this point a better option at Catcher than Wieters. Wieters only had 100AB last season, and he's got a bad elbow today and might not even make the Opening Day roster. Rollins had a good year at SS last season, but he's 36 years old. Altuve can actually get better at SS and he almost wins the SB cat for you by himself. I would take the Abreu side in this one.

I like Danny Santana. He should be a .300BA guy that scores often and he has speed to steal 20+ bases and he plays SS & OF. In some drafts I've been getting Escobar or Andrus for my starter and then picking up Santana to cover 2 spots on my BN. Longterm keeper I think Santana is the better choice and you can get him in the late rounds.

In years past I would go with Miggy because he was gonna get you 45HR. But I dont think he's a 40HR guy anymore and since he doesnt steal bases - I would just as soon take Goldy because he's going to hit 30 HR 100RBI just like Miggy and he hits for a .300BA...but Goldy will steal 15+ bases.

There's absolutely NO scenario where Peralta & Pearce would be just as/more valuable than Seager and whoever else you would have to drop. I still can't come up with a reason making this trade if I am the Seager owner.

Benoit is projected to SV at least 33 games with a very low ERA & WHIP. He is worth considerably more than a Peralta or a Leake. Go for a guy like Gio Gonzalez, Lance Lynn, Wacha, Ventura, Archer.

Unless you're in a dynasty league or have keepers...it's almost too expensive to draft him. I'd much rather draft a proven performer in a one year league.

Soler will probably hit 25+ HR this year and 85+ RBI. If you need power then go Soler (hehe)...If you want speed and all around play...then Betts. Betts also plays multiple positions.

You really don't need Street but if you have someone on your BN or a SP that you don't think will be a better contributor than Street - then it couldn't hurt to grab him. Huston will be given time to get it together because they have a lot of money invested in him...so the manager who dropped him may have acted very prematurely. Also I would rather have Street than Gregorson because Street would get more SV opps on a better LAA team.
