Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Yes, I think you win this big time then. Aoki will be solid this year, and Miggy is Miggy. I do like Bruce, but his .260 ish avg not ideal. And I don't like Zimmerman as much as others do. Plus, in a keeper, having Miggy and Trout makes everything else easier.
That is the full list. I ended up taking Davidson. He was the only offensive guy left (hedges ended up getting picked as well) so I went ahead and took him due to his power potential, although I don't like what I see with the K's. As for Paxton, he had decent minor league numbers and I see more upside to him than the other pitchers I listed. I really dont see as much in Zach Lee as other people do.
Nope those are the guys. Remember, it's a 20 team dynasty league so just about every notable Prospect is allready rostered. This is the second round of drafting prospects for this year so these are the best guys left in the yahoo! system
I'm in a 20 team, H2H dynasty league, where we pick 2 prospects each year. These are the guys left to choose from, and I am fairly torn on who to pick! I'm leaning towards either James Paxton or Matt Davidson. What do you guys think?
Ethan Martin, Cody Buckel, Zach Lee, Austin Hedges, James Paxton, Jared Cosart and Matt Davidson.
I would take it simply based on Tulos draft value. If you dont like him, ship him of for something you need. although I dont see much that you need to improve on
I would take Felix definately. Since your league counts complete games as a stat, King Felix is your man. He has thrown at least 5 complete games in each of the last 3 seasons (he threw 6 in 2009). The next closest to that over the last 3 years is Verlander, who threw 6 last year and 4 the 2 years prior. After those 2, nobody has thrown nearly that many over the last 3 years. Plus, Felix is just an overall beast and having one elite pitcher will definately make things easier for you over the course of the year.
As for the second pick, it's really hard for me to choose. I really dont like Pedroia out of the guys listed honestly. I understand wanting to pick him due to position scarcity, but I think he's over-rated a bit. I feel like going after Neil Walker midway through your re-draft is a better option. And for upton, you've allready got Cargo and Braun in the OF. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Upton fan and expect some increased numbers from last season, but It's also a risky play considering that he's with a new ball club (even though it's a better offense in ATL, that doesnt always mean increased production). I actionally have been shying away from Upton in drafts, I feel like it's a risky play as he could either either have a great bounce back year, or he could continue to not live up to his hype. A-Gon is kind of out of the quetion here compared to your other options. Personally, I would take Starlin Castro. I do see a lot of risk here, but I see huge upside as well. Shortstop is still a slim position to me, and I think he will produce better than Pedroia (you're other postion scarcity pick). Plus, if he does breakout this year, you will be able to keep him for years to come! Any way you slice it, it's going to work out though. I just prefer Castro in this particular situation.
Oh I see. Yea, I would keep Stanton. People are low on him due to his horrible team BUT he has a good chance of being traded at some point. And even if he isn't, he Is still a great keeper option for years to come
Wow, that offense should be devistating! Especially the outfield, thats phenominal. I dont know how well your pitching will hold up in a 10 team league hough. You should have gotten 2 closers, but that can easily be fixed throughout the season. But your SP will be suspect as well. Although I am a huge fan of Miley, Vogelsong, and Miller (I see them as being WAY under-rated and it appears that you do as well), I still think you could have used another top tier arm such as a Matt Cain or a Cole Hamels. Overal, Your hitting is killer, your pitching needs a little work, but with a few trades, you could be top 2 or 3 in a 10 teamer!
12 team, H2H, 5x5 stats. How do you think I did?
C- Jesus Montero $4
1B- Albert Pujols $45
2B- Rickie Weeks $7
3B- Adrian Beltre $33
SS- Erick Aybar $3
OF- Jose Bautista $34
OF- Hunter Pence $8
OF- Alejandro De Aza $3
UTIL- Ike Davis $8
UTIL- Norichika Aoki $5
BN- Chase Utley $4
BN- Angel Pagan $3
BN- Marco Scutaro $2

P- Tom Wilhelmson $2
P Jordan Zimmerman $15
P- Lance Lynn $6
P- Matt Harvey $4
BN- Jarrod Parker $3
BN- Homer Bailey $2
Overall, I think I did well. I like my pitchers. My hitting is okay. Pujols, Beltre and Bautista should anchor it and keep it competetive. I like Aza, Pagan, and Aoki with there SB, AVG and R. They should all perform well. What do you think?
I also stated, in the original post "Which of THESE prospects would you draft first in a Dynasty prospect draft." That would imply that I only want input on the guys that I listed. I apologize for being rude about it though.
In my opinion, those other guys that you just listed go 2 rounds later or more for a reason. For one, Verlander, Stras and Kershaw all have higher K totals/potential than those other guys. That alone puts them in an elite pack of there own that is makes them worthy of beginning 2nd round picks. Also, these 3 have the best shots at sub 3.00 ERA and 20+ win seasons (the wins are more likely because they all play for team that have powerfuls offenses). Overall, the Ceilings and Floors for all these guys make them draftable with the 13th pick. Although I would not take two of them with 12 and 13, I would easily take a combo of Prince/Strasburg over a combo of Prince/Bautista. Just my opinion though
Dude, if you read anything else in this post, you would see that Profar and Wil Meyers are not available. The league is a long running league, so the most valuable Prospects were allready picked up last year or the year before that. The best guys available are the ones I listed in the orginal posting. But I allready made my pick, so I don't need your help anymore. Thanks though, I appreaciate your idiotic input, much appreciated Einstein.
It's close in my opinion. You always have to consider the fact that Myers, Skaggs and Harvery may never pan out. You should send a counter taking out one of Myers, Harvey or Skaggs (He probably wont take the trade without Price and Myers invloved). Try every option though, i wouldnt take it as is but it's pretty close so send some counter offers and see what you can do
I disagree with these guys actually. With the 12th, the best available hitters more than likely will be either Cargo, Prince, or Stanton. Of those 3, I would go with either Cargo or Prince. Then with the 13th pick choose 1 of the 3 top pitchers in Verlander, Kershaw and Stras. Of those guys, it's really a tossup, they are all fairly equivalent options. I had 12th pick in a draft this year and ended up with Cargo and Kershaw and I was very pleased.
