Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Yea, believe me - I have been thinking about trading him. His injury woes had never really bothered me up until this most recent injury, but now I am getting frustrated. I feel like I could get more at the beginning of the next season though, so was thinking about waiting until then.
You are right, but the thing is there is nobody else out there to acquire. No other team has a decent excess SS. One team has Zobrist on the block and I have made an offer, but from what I have heard from others, the asking price for Zobrist is likely going to be higher than I would be willing to pay.
Not much available on the FA, either. Danny Santana, is out there, and I was really hoping he would return from his injury and produce at a rate that would actually be rosterable, but has simply been disappointing. Stephen Drew, would seem to be the best pickup. However, I am not sure I can afford to drop an SP this week or next week, based on the matchups I am facing. Aramis is easily the most expendable player on my roster right now...
I am thinking that it might be a good idea for me to add another SS to my roster since Hanley is my SS and is always injured. I was looking today and he has something like 33 ABs in the past 30 days. I have gone without a back up for all that time. I have been lucky that it hasn't seemed to hurt me, but I don't know if I want to continue basically having no SS.
I have two 3Bs - Arenado and A. Ramirez. I have been offered Alcides Escobar for Aramis Ramirez. Alcides is on his bench, and his 3B is Josh Harrison, so deal seems to make some sense for both.
Would you make this trade? The only reason I am thinking it might not be a trade I want to do is because the team I would be trading with is one of the two teams I am in a close race with for 1st place. I almost feel like his team would be benefitting from the trade more than mine since Aramis is a fairly large upgrade over Harrison and Escobar for me would not even be used everyday on my team. I don't know if I really want to make a close competitor better. Maybe I am overthinking it. Thoughts?
Wouldn't want to drop either. I guess it would depend on whether one position or another holds any more value to you. However, if I had to choose, not knowing really any details about the rest of your team, or your league, I think I would rather have Adams over Dickerson. It is close to me though.
He has filled in at SS for Hanley the past two games as Hanley has been hurt. I believe Hanley's injury is fairly short term in nature. Without any injuries, je is not normally starting everyday as he plays the infield and the regular infield is Uribe, Hanley, Gordon, and Gonzalez.
Haha, yea maybe I am just coming up with trades like this out of boredom. 9 out of 12 teams in this league have already given up on the season since there are 3 of us running away with it, and as a result, the only trades they are looking to make are their non-keeper players for draft picks. Any higher end players I go for, they are asking for Cano and Gomez. So frustrating.
I don't disagree that Arenado and Aramis should not be valued similarly, and if that was implied, that was not intended. Obviously, the draft pick would be different depending on who he wants/what works to make a deal happen for both parties. I am sure the other manager will request Arenado over Ramirez.
Personally, I don't see Arenado as a keeper, and I see Longoria as an upgrade for this season and a borderline keeper guy for next year, so that is why I am thinking this might make sense.
Yea, I don't think it would take a very high pick to get him. The Longoria owner hates him and always has. The deals that previously fell through would have been steals for me. Just wanted to make sure I was not mortgaging the future for little benefit in this case! Thanks!
I am thinking about whether it would be a good idea for me to acquire Longoria. The owner and I have connected on a possible Longoria trade several times over the past couple years and have come close several times with the talks falling through last minute. At this point, I am confident I can get Longoria for Aramis Ramirez or Nolan Arenado and a pick.
Therefore, I am wondering, do you find Longoria to be much of an upgrade over Aramis and Arenado?
And - knowing what you know right now, if you were me, do you project that you would keep Longoria next year given 8 keepers and the following roster?
I am not big on trading away draft picks, but I think if I was getting future value out of Longoria, it would be something I would probably do in this situation.
