Should I trade Victor Martinez for James Shields?
K's and CG are categories so that's a big plus for Shields, V-Mart costs about $8 million more per year, and I have Alex Avila as my back up. I'm not totally sold with Avila yet and Martinez is a consistant hitter. Shields is also 28 and has a lot of innings over the past 5 years.

That is the most retarded answer ever. Take a guess? While it's very true nobody can say with absolute certainty that a prospect will make it to the bigs or be a difference maker, there is still plenty to look at when making a choice to pickup someone and not others.
In Dynasty leagues you have to do your homework or you will get left behind. Some people do more than others and it shows. In my league you can tell who spend the time 2 years prior. We will pick someone up 2 years before most have heard of them. I pickup players at low A ball sometimes, not just AAA. All leagues are different and it depends on how many minor leaguers you can keep.
Don't listen to that last guy, do your homework and it will pay off.

I've always liked Hellickson, but the K's just haven't been where I thought they would. I still want to pick him up, but I don't want to offer too much. Is this too much or am I just overthinking it (which I think I am).
