Who to Start Message Board
We currently just started a 1 player keeper league this season with the rule being the owner loses the exact round of where the player was drafted. What should be the rule for the round the owner loses if he wants to keep a player he got off waivers/FAs? is 10th reasonable?
Also, if someone picks up Doug Martin off waivers and keeps him for next season, he should lose the round where the player was drafted (1st), correct?

Hmmm. We have established where the round you drafted him is the round you lose, this rewards teams that draft a sleeper in the later rounds.

Hi, I am the commish of a league that we decided to do a keeper league where an owner can just keep one player (so starting next year from this year's roster). Anyways, we are doing it so you lose the draft round of the player you keep. Anyways, we do you suggest we do if an owner wants to keep a player that they picked up off free agents...I was thinking they lose like a mid to late round pick? I am new to keepers so any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
Bernard Pierce Bal - RB
Dwayne Bowe KC - WR
Ryan Mathews SD - RB
Jordan Cameron Cle - TE P
C.J. Spiller Buf - RB
Eddie Royal SD - WR P
It did in my league by league vote and the people that were doing the trade got #$%$.

It's fine that undrafted players went on free agents. To fix your problem, chose the waiver option of "gametime to Tuesday" so Thursday players will go on waivers once the game starts.
Gotchya. But isn't that the setting for "First game of the week to Tuesday"?. The one I want is gametime to Tuesday I think.
I think it is through Tuesday and waiver claims go through on Wednesday at like 5am Eastern or something. But I guess I just wanted to make sure that if I did the "gametime through Tuesday" option that it'd be only the Thursday players that would be on waivers on, say, Friday and Saturday, while everyone else would be on Free Agents those 2 days.
Yeah, I know. That's what I intend to do next year. But I didn't for this year. I guess it's myself to blame and I'll let everyone know I am to blame if they don't think it's fair, then please do not blame the owner that played the strategy (streaming probable) within the league settings. I guess I thought it was more common for leagues not to have a transaction limit but perhaps I am wrong?.
Responding to my own post here, but I am seeing that there is a game-time to Tuesday option. And so if I were to chose this option, on Thursday at kickoff, JUST the players during that game would be on waivers and everyone else would be a free agent until their own kickoff to Tuesday, right?

I am the commish and have players starting from kickoff on Sunday to Tuesday night on waivers (FAAB style). Any suggestions how the Thursdays game's players should be affected? I currently have them as just free agents from Wednesday to Sunday kickoff like every other player. Is this normal? And if not, is there away to make just the players playing in that game go automatically on waivers once Thursday's kickoff starts?
Any suggestions or input? Thanks.
I didn't put in a limit on number of transactions allowed per week by a team. Someone really took advantage of this and streamed a lot of probable pitchers and really ran away with the league this year (in the regular season at least, playoffs are starting now). Anyways, there's a couple league members starting to complain about this. Do they have any beef? I guess this is my fault for not establishing in limit and not speaking about this before the season. I thought streaming probable pitchers is something is pretty common in high stakes league is it not? Any recommendations how I should respond and handle this? Thanks.

Hello. My league wants to be a keeper league starting this year (keepers carrying over to next year then) And so if I am saying you can keep, for example, one player after this year for 2014, do you recommend they lose their draft round that they drafted him? And then the year after that, the same draft round (how many years do you suggest then they can keep them?). I guess what I am trying to say is, I am new at the keeper thing and would like suggestions on how to set the rules for keeping players and how it affects the draft. Any input would be appreciated.
you can have yahoo randomize it anytime before the draft and then obviously let the league members know what was decided. Or you can decide it yourself (some people draw names out of a hat, ect) and set it manually ahead of time. Or if you don't do anything, it's decided 30 minutes before the draft randomly by yahoo
I have been playing fantasy football for a while now but have never played in a keeper league. I am a commish of a league (snake draft that hasn't happened yet) in which league members now want it to be a keeper league, starting with the draft we have coming up (so no players carried over from last year). ANYWAYS, my question, how many players do my keeper leagues allow owners to keep. Is 1 fine? Also, how would that affect their draft next season. So if someone keeps a player they drafted in the 6th round for the next season do they usually lose their 6th round pick that season?
And finally, as a commish, do I have to do anything with the settings for THIS year or do I just announce it will be a keeper league to the owners before the draft and how many players you can keep, and then I mess with the settings next year once I reactivate the league?
Any basic commish keeper 101 knowledge would be appreciated! Thanks!
