If your league has Josh Bell available, add him and store him on the bench for a couple of weeks. Watched his 3 plate appearances this weekend, and was very impressed. First at-bat in the bigs, smokes an Arrietta slider into right-center for a single. Second big-league at-bat, got a fastball a tick above the belt and crushed a 445' HR out of PNC park. Third plate appearance, worked an 0-2 count into a 9-pitch walk.
The kid has excellent strike recognition, a low K rate in the minors and very good power that is now on display. He is also a switch-hitter who has pounded both left and right-handed pitching this season in the minors. Kid is going to be a force ... if he is available, you better pick him up while you have the chance, since in about 2 weeks, he is the Pirates starting 1st baseman and a guy who is going to give better production than any other FA out there.
billy went 3/0/0/3 174 this week. He is far from my biggest concern now. I lost 2-8 to the last place team and fell to 6th in standings- I do hav a 6 game lead on the guy in 7th. The 2 cats I won were SB and K's. My pitching staff is a mess and its mostly been mt RP's fault. I drafted a closer 5th 6th and 7th. - and they are all having their worst years. I drafted wacha 9th and carlos martinez 11th and they havent been the anchors i had hoped for.. 4.08 era and 1.28 whip as a team sux.
on a bright note cano and kipnis caught fire when they joined my team.
I've just sent you the transfer email to accept the team. It is a H2H, 12-team keeper league. We're keeping 6 keepers this year. Roster positions are QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/R/T, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR, IR. Once you accept the team, check out the settings. I think you will like the set up. But if you don't, please let me know instead of just leaving the league on your own. I'd greatly appreciate that. Thanks again.

I am the commissioner for a total points for season only league. Line-up changes are once a week on Monday. My league webpage has a Yahoo Sports message saying that the shortened All Star Week is being combined with the next Week for a long Week 15. I am having trouble understanding what that means to my league.
First of all, in the All Star week, since the games do not begin until Friday, the line-up should be able to be set for Friday-Sunday as late as Thursday night. As best as can determine, the ability to change my line-up for the shortened All Star Week ended at midnight Monday night, a time when the pitchers who would be starting on Friday-Sunday were not yet determined for a good number of teams.
Second, it appears as if my line-up can be changed for Monday 7/18 meaning that for the purpose of a fixed line-up, All Star Week is not being combined with the next week.
So, in summary, the message at my league webpage saying that All Start Week is being combined with the following week for 1 long week is very confusing and made some of us miss the last Monday night at midnight deadline for setting our line-ups for the Friday-Sunday games this week.

There isn't anyone better than Sandoval I can use that DL slot on. I explored trading Cabrera last season and he's worth more to me than the value that was offered.
How is the OF level 3 the worst? It's a 20 team league. Polanco is a top 50 player. Filling in Joyce and Freese on Braun's off days gives you top top 50 production. Choo has been a top 50 player since he got healthy. I still have Reddick who will end up traded to a better lineup and more hitter friendly park and Werth who is a decent utility/backup in a league this big. Plus Trea Turner is supposed to get some starts in CF and I got Andrew Toles off waivers.
While I do have some risk in my OF as a unit it's likely the in the 5th to 8th best in a 20 team league, and the only available players above 1% ownership to fill in are Joey Rickard and Eduardo Escobar who are garbage. And my infield should finish as best in the league to carry me.
Just wondering how exactly you'd improve the OF? I honestly don't see an area I could subtract from without creating a bigger hole somewhere else.
How exactly were Hamilton and Abreu hurt by the home run derby?
Abreu was fine and had a normal (and quite productive) aging curve.
Hamilton's fall off was more than likely due to years of constant drug and alcohol abuse, not the homer un derby.
New league, instead of drafting players we are drafting actual NFL teams. Real Life trades, free agency, and drafts play a major role on our squads. This is a franchise league, which means this league will run for as long as we can make it last. Its casual enough to where you dont need to invest every second of your life, but deep enough to make you think of the hard decisions. they gave us all plenty of notice and do this a couple times a season..why all the trippin? It just sucks that last weekend was a black friday for injuries and we all need some updates before a long week.
