Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Surely players can outperform their career highs. But to draft or own a player expecting them to exceed their career norms is stupid.
Cuddyer averages 8 SB per 162 games and has achieved double digit SB two times in his career.
Similarly, Josh Donaldson could easily steal 10 bases this season if he tries. He doesn't have the best footspeed but he clearly has the knowledge and picks his moments (8-0 last year; 17-3 career). The man has a 85% success rate for stolen bases...that is Tim Raines territory and a better success rate than either Rickey Henderson or Lou Brock.
Game, set, match!!!
Oh...and just for illustrative purposes:
Jake Arrieta - 5 MLB seasons
This is his stat line:
34 W - 32 L
Aaron Harang - 12 MLB seasons:
This is his stat line:
122 W - 128 L
Yup...Jake Arrieta is Aaron Harang.

So here is the situation Yahoo has created for itself:
Their loyal customers are furious at them
Their casual customers have forgotten that they exist
Their competitors are thrilled with all the new business they are getting
I don't think that's a strategy that is taught in most business schools.
No problem. Like I usually say, just because I typed out a lot doesn't mean I'm right. I could be 100% wrong, but at least you know where I'm coming from compared to a yes or no. good luck!
