Commissioner Corner Message Board
It's hard to imagine anyone in any league format dealing Justin Upton for an injured Bryce Harper straight up... the answer is obvious, but the question is bogus.
Wait on it for sure. Cuddyer is 3 games away from 3B eligibility and with Arenado out, he should have it by the weekend. That might give you the flexibility you need. Plus, Beltran hasn't exactly been lighting it up this year, maybe wait and see if he actually hits before activating? But, if you have to drop someone immediately, definitely Laroche. 7 HR at 1B isn't hard to replace.
I am aware, however, I think you are placing far too much importance on ADP... what matters when the season is in progress is performance. Harper's ADP next year will fall dramatically, whereas all the players you mention, regardless of age will either hold or improve... the bottom line is that even in a Keeper league, "reasonable" fair value has to be maintained when exchanging players of current top fantasy caliber for projected talent. Harper is a big name, no doubt, but he has also been a major disappointment. He is simply not enough on his own for a top player... it skews the integrity of competition for teams still competing this year too drastically. If it was Harper plus another useful upside player then that would be a different story, but as a 1 for 1... it is not a fair value exchange for a player whose value derives more from his name than his actual performance... past and present or future projection.
I'm going against the grain and going with side A. To further enhance this position is the need for SP Verlander, Cain, Masterson, Kuroda, Garza - YUK. All of those guys out side of Verlander should be on waivers in a 12 team league.
It isn't terrible and I understand the idea of trying to move Tulo but I would have to get more back for him than that.
If harper plays like he did last year then I feel upton would put up better numbers. But if he gets back to his 2012 form... he'll put up better #'s across the board IMO.
I can wait with Harper on the DL... I have 8 other guys that are on the dl right now and zimmerman just came off the dl... other than trout, right now my OF is pretty weak.
should I be patient or try to improve somewhere?
