"The standard deviation score for Cain's HR is 1.62.
The standard deviation score for Cain's RBI is 2.22.
Two standard deviations above the mean is GREAT!
Similarly, Cain's HR standard deviation score of 1.62 is higher than Bryce Harper's standard deviation score in SB of 0.75."
The standard deviation score you're quoting is a statistic showing Cain's performance against the average MLB player. That's great if we're measuring him in real life against the entire MLB universe... but we're not. In a typical 10 or 12 team Yahoo mixed league, you're only dealing with the "best" players in baseball, making the SD score meaningless. Amongst starters in a typical fantasy league, Cain's HR and RBI totals are mediocre at best. And while you're correct that Cain is better at hitting HRs than Harper is at stealing bases, this is just obfuscating with numbers. The truth is that Harper dominates in 4 out of 5 offensive categories, and by a wide margin... at least until "HR proficiency in relation to someone else's SB proficiency" becomes a standard statistical category in Yahoo leagues.
not sure on him. just a feeling i have on him. i have been wrong before and i could be wrong again. isnt there any good players that you just dont like.
Who in the world are you drafting with? I can see Goldschmidt at 2 but then I guess Betts and Degrom on the turn but how in the world did sano, cruz and jones fall to you?
I like Upton a lot better than Frazier. However, I am wondering what other 3Bs will be available? 3B strikes me as a very weak position after Frazier in an AL only. If you don't take Frazier, you might have a huge drop off at that position. I think you almost have to go Frazier here based on that. OF, in contrast, is likely the deepest position.
we had a budget of 280$' forget on how much i spent on each player(too much rum.lol) 10 teams
league URL is moneyball2k16
10 teams confirmed, 7 joined, need only 6 more to fill it up. we're competitive and have been playing vs one another for 10 years
I don't think the board is missing out on those two. I wouldn't consider either of those two a "stud" but Sano is very good and Franco is at least as good advertised.
Third base is loaded this year but the only reason to own certain players is if you missed out on the upper tiers. I have both Sano and Franco ranked in the top 12 of my pre-season position rankings but I also got a multi-position eligible player as my 3B starter that I think is better than both.
Gonna draft my peeps this Saturday and wanted to make sure that I was on the same level as everyone else since I'm fairly new to this. Are there some stats that are worth more points than others? Any advice when drafting? Thanks!
Had to get rid of a few managers that did not play this last year so I am looking for some replacements to take over their teams. 6 Keepers - 3 hitters, 3 pitchers (at least 1 RP and SP). Reply with questions. This is a head to head league.
