Would you rather have Nicholas Batum or Demarre Carroll in a 16 team h-2-h 9 category league?
I like Carroll's better FG% and more consistent scoring and 3's, but I like Batum's assists and SG eligibility.
I currrently have Batum, was offered Carroll straight up. I kinda want to take the deal but that would leave me with Wesley Mattews, Ben McLemore and Norris Cole as my only SG eligible players. Not awful, but not very good either.
Pre all star break I would take Ariza all day, no question regardless of your roster. But in my opinion they've both been playing at a fairly equal level since the break, and with Holiday out, Rondo disappearing and Dragic being a little inconsistent on his new team along with his current back spasms I feel like you have better depth at SF than PG. That being said, Ariza does still have better value and you'd only be losing out on 0-2 assists per game on most nights.
So I think I'd still rather have Ariza. Although with your PG situation I'd try to make another deal after. If you could package Rondo with 1 of your SF's for a better PG I'd do it. Or you may be able to simply flip Ariza for a PG who's an upgrade over Burke.... Some people can't get past ranking numbers when evaluating trades and Ariza's Yahoo average ranking of 33rd on the season and 13th in the last 30 days will be more appealing to a lot of managers than Burke's season avg ranking of 152nd and 106th in the last 30 days. So even though Burke has been a top 50 or better value since the all star break, managers are likely to give up a better PG for Ariza based on his season long value. Not to mention it's easier to trade a SF for a PG than it is to trade a PG for a PG.
So basically: Yes I'd trade Burke for Ariza. But then I'd try to flip him for a better PG or make some other trade to upgrade your PG position.
If this is a dynasty league, or a keeper league where you keep a lot of players I'd reconsider. The age difference between Burke and Ariza makes Burke more appealing long term.
