Commissioner Corner Message Board
I drafted him as a bench player in my league, and the 1B eligibility is an added bonus.
I'd say there's a chance that he puts together a "breakout" season of sorts, now that he's in a better line-up and a smaller ballpark.
I would hope A.J. Ellis doesn't cut into his playing time, though I believe I read that he is Kershaw's catcher of choice.
It's funny when people compare positions instead of similarly valued players.... It's much more clear when you do that. Gomez = Kershaw, Upton = Springer, Kluber Jensen. That easier to see?
In terms of value, I like it... Gomez/Kershaw are reletively equal value. Upton/Springer are equal value. Kluber is likely worth more than Jensen.
The question is, what are your team needs... I'd almost say pull the trigger and figure out needs later.
I am new to Yahoo Fantasy baseball and I set up a league and chose live draft. Does choosing live draft exclude one or two team managers in the league from having their teams auto-drafted?
Here are my projected 3 year avg for all 4 guys... for what it's worth
Bautista - 80/28/85/2/265
Melancon - 3/30/70/2.50/1.10
Brantley - 85/15/85/18/290
Calhoun - 90/20/70/8/270
10 team, H-H Dynasty
Standard 5x5 Scoring
30 man MLB roster, 6 man MiLB roster
Finished 2nd last year
I'm trying to move Jose Bautista. He was great last year. But I want out before it's too late. In '12 and '13 he avg 105 GP. Last year he made it through 155. I'm going to assume he won't do that again. I'm banking on about 140 GP this year, and maybe less each of the following years.
Jose Bautista (Tor - 1B,OF), Mark Melancon (Pit - RP)
Michael Brantley (Cle - OF), Kole Calhoun (LAA - OF)
I'm a Brantley believer. I can't find one reason to think he'll regress outstide of the top 40ish. That's about where I value Bautista in a dynasty. For Brantley's career, while hitting 3rd, his line is 82/16/79/20/333 in 544 ABs. That's 2nd round value, and about what I expect minus about 30 points on the BA.
Where I run into the issue is the Calhoun/Melancon piece. Melancon is a top closer. But it's H-H and I'm sure I can add another on the way. I like Calhoun long term too. Am I overthining this?
My OF would be -
Puig, Upton, McCutchen, Brantley with Calhoun, Pence, Garcia, and Melky in the UT/BN slot
Chris Davis would slide to 1B, with Hosmer backing him up
My Closers would be Doolittle, Benioit, and Gregerson with hopes of Giles taken over at some point
Sorry, a lot to take in... You can't make an informed decision if you don't have all the detals though.
Rules to this League-
On every elimination week, out of the remaining teams, the team with the least amount of points will be eliminated. Elimination means all players are dropped to the waiver wire for remaining teams to pick up, your team will be locked from making moves, and editing team settings. You will however still be able to communicate through email and the message board. If there is a tie when it comes to elimination, the following elimination week will have 2 teams eliminated. After week 22, the remaining 4 teams will play for the championship. If a tie happens on the last elimination week, no team will be eliminated for that week and all remaining teams will play for the championship. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Week 3, Week 5, Week 7, Week 9, Week 11, Week 13, Week 15, Week 16, Week 17, Week 18, Week 19, Week 20, Week 21, Week 22.

Established Dynasty Lg in 10 year of operation needs one replacement manager. The team available will be respectable and finished 8th of 20 last year and also had a good draft of prospects so it should improve in the future. We are entering our prospect draft phase and I cant really wait a lot longer for him to return.
Its a deep 12 category roto league and offers an enhanced challenge over most ot the standard leagues.
Its probably the closest that most will come to achieving a true ownership experience of a baseball team without having to negotiate contracts and sell tickets.
Please leave your email addy if interested.
I don`t think he bats as low as people are thinking .270 20 HR 20 stl 80 walks Lat year in AAA He 100 walks so he has an eye and more patience then you think
