fanasty help re commissioner's drop

When manager receives commisioner message that Yahoo dropping player across the board. What happens if manager does not comply. I had G Davis on 1 of my teams and dropped him. I'm in 2 other leagues and noticed no one complying. So is it just my bad luck or do these messages have any meaning other than existing?
