    Would you veto this?

12 team h-2-h non keeper league.
Ton's of categories (mins, FTM, FGM, O-Reb, D-Reb and all the regular ones)

    Derrick Rose
    for
    Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden

I'm getting Rose in this deal, and while I'll admit I think I am the winner, I will also argue that the other team is getting an increase in what they need (a healthy PG, doubling their 3's and steals, huge increase in O-reb and D-reb).
Now I've always thought a veto was to be used to prevent cheating or collusion. Or to stop a trade that would negatively effect the outcome of each team and prevent anyone else from winning.
I am the 8th place team trading with the 10th place team, the commish who veto'd is in 1st.
Rose is the better PG, even though he's ranked 37 and Jennings is ranked 22) but his back spasms have also been an issue since H.S.
Gooden is injured but has the all-star break to rest, and when healthy was a HUGE source of Pts and REbs.

Is this trade so rediculously uneven that it warrants a veto? Or is the commish confused that a veto isn't used to babysit managers and bail them out of accepting a trade that they don't deem that they win on?
I guess I skipped the part where it said veto's are used to prevent managers from making their own decisions when the outcome will not effect the rest of the league, and there is no cheating going on..

    Anyways, what's your opinion?

    • CWitt was crying the other day that this was vetoed. He also said that the other team was getting the better deal. He seems like a loser.

    • If you wanna win in points, rebounds, threes, freethrow percentage, and turnovers you go with love. If you want top 10 plays and someone with no jump shot you go with griffin. No one with basic basketball knowledge would ever draft griffin over love, and the fact that he is starting in the all-star game is a joke. Griffin will never in his entire career be able to carry a team on his shoulders the way love does for the t-wolves. So add griffin with camby who the dude picked up off waivers a week prior to the trade and compare it to love and augustin who at the time was healthy and racking up assists and the only categories griffin's side wins are consistantly FG% and blocks. That is a trade worthy of a veto in my opinion. At least in your situation dude who gave up rose got two players back one of which is above average at the same position and another who is now getting starters minutes and putting up decent PPG/REB numbers. At the end of the day it's your call cuz that's how you wanted it, but sorry to say i sure wouldn't want to be in one of your eight leagues master commish. I like my fantasy sports how I like my country, and that is governed by a democracy not a dictator who believes he is smarter than everyone else in the league.

    • Comparing categories its 6-4 Love wins in standard format minus TO's, that isn't a blow out by any means and there is less than a few rankings positions at the beginning of the year between the two. Have to consider that Blake is on a team with stars on it and Love is the only guy the Wolves have, if Blake was a Wolve and Love was a Clipper then I believe the stats would be turned around except FT%. I give it to Love but it is not a huge of a difference.

Earlier I explained my position on league votes vs commish review. I have been in many leagues where completely bogus trade go through because of lack of activity. These trades ruined those leagues, it was obvious who was going to win after the trade and they did. I will not let that happen ever again. I commish 8 leagues and I've got one manager complaining about trades, only ONE, that is a little over 1% big deal, why change what is working because of one manager over a total of 96 managers.

What I find interesting is the other manager hasn't made a peep about the trade, that speaks volumes about the one that is ie: major whiner.

    • Oh and you miss quoted me. Shame on you lol.

    • You again, don't you ever shut up? You've pissed off someone else huh, not surprising.

      • I dont agree with referring to DRose as a top 3 fantasy player this year, the injury concerns are too great.

The biggest thing when looking at trades in my opinion is the needs of each team involved, i dont think you can look too much into the yahoo rankings when evaluating trades.

For this reason i would let the trade go through. And if you can outsmart another manager and there is no evidence of collusion, i say more power to you.

You sound like you are on a bit of a power trip Kahn.

      • LOL nevermind, I just looked into some things and found that AJ and Kahn are the same person under different names. He responded to a post asking for a new manager in a league, and left this email address:
        kerrydross@hotmail.com
which is the exact same email address as "kahn" the commish of my league I'm talking about lol
So I'm pretty sure he just made a comment on here trying to make it look like I've pissed off multiple people when it is really him unde 2 different names lol.
        Nice try bud.

      • AJ are you talking to me or Kahn? I'm assuming Kahn since I don't know you and have never talked to you before

    • Both you guys need to chill out a little. It's fantasy basketball not the cold war. If dude really wants to trade Rose and you really want him purpose another trade and offer a slightly better player then Gooden. That should make both sides happy. Also I would put money on rose missing more games then gooden this season so the injury concern should be on the team getting rose and not the other way around.

      • LOL thanks for the response Jake, he posted a message on the league's board saying that almost everyone on here agreed with him and not me, but if you go back and look there are actually quite a few more people saying that it was NOT worth a veto. But since he locked me out of the league I can't post a link of this in it, and I know he's too chickenshit to post a link of it himself since it would just make him look like the liar that he is.

    • Gooden has been playing with the same wrist injury all season. Yahoo report says he will play in the teams next game.So what if they give him some time off before the break. I have him on my team and I'm not tripping on it at all. I expect him to keep getting close to a double double each night with a decent percentage from the field and the line.

    • One of the biggest problems in fantasy sports are trades. One person can perceive a trade as fair and another will not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The rules for the league should govern trades. If the commissioner can veto trades then he will use his judgment to determine if the trade is fair. Don't join a league where the commissioner has the power to veto a trade.
Especially in a keeper league you need a commissioner to veto trades where teams trade for next years carryovers. I personally wouldn't veto this trade.

    • Seems like the commish doesn't wanna see your team in the playoffs possibly. Everyone knows rose will come back and play like the MVP he is. Jennings and Gooden will help the other dudes team in categories he probably needs help in. The commish should back off in this case.

      • Actually one of the best responses so far, but Gooden is out for how long, no one knows. It then becomes one of the leagues top 3 players for Jennings, lopsided. Potential does come into play and I suspect that is why other managers asked me to veto it. It is my job as commish to respond to their wishes as well as the two in the trade. Commishes that only listen to the trade participants aren't doing the league justice.
