Anybody read Vara's preview? All the proof is there that the guy doesn't know the first thing about golf. Check this quote out from his starters choices:
"Love won this event in 2006, and knows his way around this course."
and this one from his Players to Consider:
"Pettersson finished fifth at this event last year, and 11th in 2005, so we know he can get around this layout."
Now here is the history information from www.wyndhamchampionship.com on the course for this year's event:
The Wyndham Championship returns to Sedgefield Country Club beginning with the 2008 tournament. In a February 20 news conference, tournament officials cited a restored Donald Ross original golf course, close proximity to the Grandover Resort where most players and sponsors stay as well as a course located much closer to the center of the Piedmont Triad as reasons for moving the tournament. The course will cover some 7,150 yards and play to a par 70. After 31 years at Forest Oaks Country Club, the Wyndham Championship would again be contested on one of the courses where the tournament began in 1938.
Vara doesn't even know that this event is being played on a course that not even Larry Mize has played on in an event (turned pro 1980)...he turns 50 in September. He'd have been 17 in 1976, the last time this event was played on this course, and I think he's the oldest in the field this week. I am pretty sure not ONE of the players in this week's field has played this course in a PGA event...
Whoever is paying Vara should just quit. Vara is a BAFOON!
cause it's yahoo ....It's not the post or herald, it's not espn or the golf channel.....hell, it's not even local sports casting.....he got the job because he was the most experienced guy in the price range they wanted....i don't have to have permission to pass a judgement like that...it's called common sense.......unlike the constant judgement you pass on me even though you have no idea if I am lying or not....I have more right to that then you do to judge me.........especially since you accuse me of lying about being a cagefighter who makes 9 dollars an hour and has lost 3 of his last 4 fights........yeah.....that story sounds heartwarming, I could sell it to lifetime for 11 bucks.......your a dumass
Vara and others like him, provide Fantasy Players like mysel,f OPINIONS. He is more right than he is wrong and I use his his preview as a GUIDE not as GOSPEL. I am ranked 802 on the BIG BOARD becuase I follow his comments. I utilize his comments along with other pieces of information to make my picks from week to week.
Vara is entitled to his opinion just as you are, You should reveal your score so that we know whose comments reflect sound judgement.

You're all hilarious....taking this so seriously, as if insight and knowledge have so much meaning....I gave my overall score (see previous post) to showcase just to how much LUCK goes into this. I would be the first to admit I don't know squat about golfers (though I golf ok). Let my example ibe an example for all exemplify...Vara is good, but a stupid pud can do better by consoling not charts, but the the swirl of bubbles rising up in his home brew. Playing golf well is reality, playing fantasy golf well is simply beer bubbles.
I think some of you guys miss the point, sometimes, who post on this particular message board...
It's pretty hard to explain, but I wonder how many of you down deep really believe you're accomplishing anything by playing the game when you don't even care about the little things?
In life, it's the little things that make the difference, and I am sure that if you asked any professional golfer, he'd tell you the same thing. So I ask you, are you winning or just fooling yourself?
As for Vara, I can't find a single reason to believe that ANYTHING he has ever done has benefitted anyone...EVER...
10 years from now, people will still be using the spreadsheets I put up. And they'll be enjoying golf and the game. For them, the "round charts" will be a benefit. Somebody else will come along and make an internet site where people can track their stats online and who knows what else...
I just wonder what your answer would be wood, if you stopped to ask yourself, "What am I doing that benefits people?"
Finally, you see 84% when you look at my stats, and that's what it says, but ask yourself this, "What do my stats say?" What's your answer?
Someday reality and the stats will match. Hope you're still in the game...

golf is not about stats...and who are you to say Vara doesn't appreciate the little things? You read his previews and you think somehow you're privvy to the mans entire thought capacity? Seems like you're taking all this too seriously..I don't...I pick players each week based on voodoo and nonsensical factors....and I'd bet I'm doing better than you statistically in Fantasy Golf...so ease up, maybe go rent Caddyshack and rediscover how absurd golf is...but if you have to get dire with it, leave the boys alone here who still have it in them to have a sense of humor.
what your stats tell me is you suck at fantasy golf period you can chart all the rounds you want and it will never beat a guy picking that is using common sense and his brain i will give you this it takes skill to be getting passed up by managers that are not even setting their teams anymore how you do that?
