    • GMs tend to stay more active in the prize leagues than the standard public leagues...although it has been getting slightly better each year (really, Yahoo isn't any different than ESPN or CBS for that matter). You can expect about 25% to 40% to stay active throughout the year. Generally, H2H is more active than ROTO.

Even the public winner leagues drop off significantly as GMs give up.

    • Not really. You'll be lucky if you have 1/3rd of the managers who bother setting their lineups and/or actively picking up players. I never understood myself why people bother playing in free public leagues, it's a completely waste of time IMO. Go join a cheap buy-in league, even if it's $20. You'd be surprised how people are so much more active even when it's not a ton of money. One of my friends play in a $500 buy-in league where the winner gets like $3000-4000. You'd never seen such active managers in your life.

    • not overly. sometimes youll get lucky and find one that is, but many leagues will have about 1/3 to 1/2 of guys who dont show up or set their rosters.

i would join a fantasy hockey forum like Dobber or HFBoards and ask around if you can join someones league. you'll be much more satisfied with the level of participation.
