Thanks, Jim. I appreciate the insight. As you mention, it is a difficult question. The league is not a keeper, so I was leaning toward Niemi myself. They both have good teams in front of them, but I beleive that SJ can generate more goals than Philly....although I could be wrong on that.

As for starts, it looks like both teams spilt starts (Bob / Boucher and Nitty / Niemi), so I am not sure if that is a concern.

Anyone know if Bob or Niemi can be called a No. 1?

    • I'd say Niemi has claimed more of a 1a status, with Nitty being 1b. He isn't the true go-to guy just yet, but his numbers have improved consistently over the course of this year and what was once a 70-30 split in favor of Nitty is now the opposite.

I believe McLellan is starting Nitty tonight to get the rust off and because Niemi had a rough time with Buffalo last outing (albeit that was before the injury to Derek Roy).

In the long run, I'd rather have Niemi than Bob. Sharks WANT him to do well, they WANT him to be their number 1, and he has the ability.
