I'm in a 12 team keeper H2H league and won the pool last year. Right now I'm 7th in the league and can't figure out why I'm not doing better. I started off badly and made a trade (Traded Gaborik, LeClaire for Sharp, Backstrom) because I was terrible in nets. I was banking on Gaborik getting injured and he hasn't yet but it hasn't really hurt me because I still win the Goals category every week. Is it just a matter of time before I start climbing the standings or do I need to look at more trades?
Your center is solid. You need help on both your wings. You have no real consistant players there. D is not bad other than Pronger & Del Zotto are not performing right now but that will come. Atlanta goalies are not the best to be carrying either but thankfully Backstrom is heating up. I say trade Crosby and get a solid goalie and winger to balance out your team.

Thanks for the insight guys, I'm sure it would be the smart thing to do but I would not be able to trade Crosby. I just wouldn't be able to do it because I'm such a huge fan. Even if he died in a plain crash I'd probably still keep him on my roster incase he came back to life hahaha jk. But I have been looking into trading other guys with a lot of future potential like Stamkos, Ryan, Okposo etc... I think the main difference between my last years team and this years team is Vanek had 40 goals last year, and he's on pace for about half that this year. And Tim Thomas is not nearly playing at his Vezina winning potential last year. Also having Shane O'Brien on defence last year was surprising valuable for my PIM category because he was 2nd in the league in PIMs and being a D it was great not to take up one of my forward positions.

To me it's not so much what's wrong with who you DO have, but who you don't have. Yes you picked up a couple mediocre players who were on hot streaks, but overall your top-level players aren't performing nearly as well as they should this year (except Crosby, Stamkos (not as much anymore), and B. Richards)
I'd say all of your wingers with the exception of Sharp and Ryan are having mediocre seasons, Pronger is your go-to D-man but that's about it, and your goaltending is filled with goalies who aren't playing #1 goalie minutes (Thomas sort-of, but Rask is getting quite a few starts).
Not one thing wrong, just overall mediocrity. You really need to lock down at least one solid #1 goalie (Backstrom has not been good this year) - I'm talking a Kipper, Luongo, Fleury, Nabokov, Bryzgalov, Anderson, Brodeur, Miller, even Elliot (when he returns from IR). Tough to do, but I see that team staying between 5-10th in a 12-man league for the rest of the season assuming players continue as they are.
