Commissioner Corner Message Board
I posted this in the "General" board too...thanks
3 year keeper league - going into 2nd year.
We can keep 5 players (1 goalie)
My keepers as of now are
I am debating switching it up. Instead of Alfredsson, I have been debating keeping...
Sheldon Souray - - that way I have two top notch D
or another C in Briere or Ribeiro.
Alfie is the safest bet.
Sourary is too injury prone to be a keeper in a league that shallow.
Briere - dido.
These guys are great when they turn the gas on but are too unreliable. I have been burnt by Briere 2 years running, drafting him in year one, keeping him in year two. Dumping him for year three. I was 3rd in yr1 and won in y2.
Note: in my y2 win I had drafted Souray and used his hot performance to package him in a deal for OVI. I now have 2 of the top 3, and a rival GM who regrets it, even though he did get good players in return. I was in 1st all year and dropped to 2nd for 5 weeks after pulling the trigger, but the risk paid off and I got OVI long-term and still managed to win the whole year in a tight league.
Bottom line: IR prone guys that perform to old standards or out perform projections are BAIT to snag a bigger fish. We never like giving up productive guys, but those are the breaks.
Alfie has always been steady, and looks to improve this year without team distractions. He is no longer an exciting pick, but a solid one.
Although Alfredsson will be less of a threat w/ the loss of Heatley, he will still be very effective. I wouldn't take Souray over him unless you're in dire need of a D man....otherwise, Daniel's a strong fantasy player.
If anything, you can trade him for a better D-man once the season begins if you still feel you need one.
