Commissioner Corner Message Board

Should I approve this trade?
This one smells fishy....Daniel Briere, Mats Sundin, Erik Cole & Martin St. Louis for Alexander Ovechkin, Mattias Ohlund, Darcy Tucker & Gary Roberts?
My common sense says no way!!!-
Is it a commissioner's job to protect the stupid? I say that unless you have at least a strong sense of collusion (or unless one of the players involved is injured after the trade is accepted), let it go through.
Commissioners should not be babysitters. Simply because a trade may appear to be unbalanced does not make it improper. After all, every time you make a trade isn't your goal to steal as much from the other guy?
So the one GM has a boner for Ovechkin. Let him live and learn.
Or maybe the rest of his roster is constructed so that this trade might make sense.
Or maybe he worries that Briere is going to fall apart in a more physcial division.
Or maybe (most likely, in my opinion) he's simply a moron.
Whatever the reason — unless it's collusion or a GM is quitting and turning his team into a clearinghouse — don't veto trades.
What should happen is that that commissioner should screen prospective GMs strictly before welcoming them to the league. If they show enough hockey knowledge to enter your league, they (and the commissioner) should have to live with the consequences of a bad decision. -
take out st.louis and it MIGHT be fair
