    • IMO this is a pretty even trade. What Backstrom gives up to Crosby, Thomas gives up to Quick. Pk slightly Boyle, slight edge Dupuis over Voracek ATM, Kadri/Lupul is a toss up due to Lupul's history. The one category you clearly make out on (+/-, and maybe PIM) cancels out what you lose gaining Thomas. If you're OK losing Quick, good trade, even though goalies have more value with these categories.

    • I feel like you got owned. Crosby is obviously the best player in the NHL, but given his injury history I would think it is just about even between Backstrom & Crosby. The only difference is maybe 25 pts tops by seasons finish & that is IF Crosby avoids injury all year. PK Subban is another great player but not game changing & not proven? Especially in exchange for Dan Boyle who is proven solid for many years. The trade really falls apart when you give up Lupul & Voracek... 2 guys who can get 50-75 pts this year for a couple lessor players in Kadri & Dupuis.. & Jonathan Quick is the number 1 goalie in NHL, for an old Tim Thomas on the worst team in NHL. You got Sidney, but you paid a real hefty price in my opinion, that other guy got a lot of value... especially this early in the season a trade like this is sketchy.
