    Sleepers

Who's the top sleeper pick? I have my eye on David Perron but I'm looking for suggestions.

    • I don't know that I'd apply the "sleeper" tag to him, but people are going to take Brad Marchand way too low. Check his stats. This is a guy primed for a 70+ pt, 100 PIM, +25 year. I'll take those stats any day. And if your league counts hits, take this guy by the 6th round, at least. Plus he plays on one of the best teams out there, with some of the best goaltending. He's the best value out there for a Lucic, Hartnell, Backes- type of player, and every team needs one of those.

And speaking of Hartnell, this guy is ranked WAAY too low. Not counting last year's shortened and injured season, Hartnell has scored 61G - 55A - 116Pts over 2 years playing with Giroux, and rolled up 278 PIMs, 409 SOG and a +33 over those 2 seasons. (Not to mention 356 hits, if you're counting). If being ranked ridiculously low makes you a sleeper, Scotty wins that prize. Draft him while you can.

      • I've been quite surprised at how low both Hartnell and Marchand have dropped. I took Hartnell in the 8th round and felt like I got a good deal, but it sounds like in many drafts he's going even later than that. If he posts an "average" season (i.e. 45-50 points), then the peripheral numbers make him a good 4th or 5th round pick IMHO. I was settled at LW so I ended up passing on Marchand, but he went in the 12th - the shots are a bit low, but that's still far too late. Clarkson and Downie both went undrafted (Downie I can understand, coming off knee surgery).

    • Koivu is always a solid sleeper. Get him late in the draft (hits, goals, assists and pims) . The wild had some good offseason moves and parise will pick it up this year, therefore koivu will benefit.

Sharp and Hossa aren't sleepers. Get them if you can.
Cole is a sleeper and grabovski as well.

    • horton, burnz, bogozian, E.kane, clarkson(especially if you include hits and pim), m.koivu, seabrooke, sharp, hossa(after a cup win), dubnyk, marc staal, gardner, ERIC COLE, samuelsson, jamie McGinn, zajac, filppula, cogliano, grabovski, legwand, nabokov.

something i have noticed in a bunch of mock drafts and prerankings... there is more talent out there this year or at least it is more spread out. The half season screws everything up. and roughly 4 teams have goaltending controversy... so grabbing schneider is dumb lou stated brodeur was number 1 till retirement... fleury will get de flowered by vokoun along the season, emery or mason, probably emery but no garantee, i dont know who will play in florida yet at all... tampa is no better shape, riemer and bernier.... it goes on...

beyond the debates of the elite 4, you fall on whats best next well you can go tavares, p.kane, datsuk, rask, giroux(inj finger)... between karlson, subban, letang, bufuglien, sutter, keith, webber, ....... so on dont focus to much on d.. it goes low...

my problem is along the lines of 3rd round you seem to find a bad drop in RW, nothing worthy of the next few rounds... when i noticed this i put ovy´s stock up to second behind stammer and crosby 3rd malkin 4th (the only second liner in the discussion)

Jeff carter has that position monopoly, ridiculously practical for dressing multiple players, burns and bufuglien get a special too getting rw and d .... enjoy

    • burrows is ranked pretty low as well

    • If they get on the top line look out for alex chaisson. , pierre marc bouchard

    • 5 forwards who will be ranked way too low:

E.Kane (last season he will not be a 2nd rounder)
      Pavelski
      Hartnell
      Elias
      Versteeg

5 Ds who will be ranked too low

      Burns
      Diaz
      Myers
      Doughty
      P.Martin

      5 goaltenders

      Lehtonen (!!!!!)
      Halak
      Schneider
      Dubnyk
      Mason

      5 rookies

      Strome
      Chiasson
      Brodin
      Drouin
      Bennett

    • Tarasenko is one as well . Don't forget about the rookies too , Drouin , Strome , Mackinnon, Barkov and Jones! Drouin (#2 pick) will hopfeully be playing one the top line with Stammer. Once we see if he makes the team strome could be playing with tavares , if not him then Pierre Marc Bouchard will. Mackinnon #1 pick obviously the most skilled but we'll be playing on the 3rd line but will still probably get 40-50 points. And Barkov should be on the first line with Huberdeau (unless they're are both Centres not really sure).

    • Grabovski - Yahoo has him ranked 441, and he will be on one of Washingtons top-2 lines in a more offensive role
Peverley - Will get some quality minutes in Dallas. Usually good for top-6 production but not a very sexy name
Jason Garrison - Will be near the top in d-men goals. Didn't see hardly any PP time last year, should be on the top unit with Edler this year so he will get a bump in PPP.
Jeff Skinner was a victim of low % last year, so he should see a positive spike in production.

    • Situationally, I'd say Brent Burns - as long as he's D-eligible, he's money. Amongst players ready for an increased role, I would echo all of Daniel's picks (save possibly for Ramo - that Flames team is uuuugly), but would also add Emerson Etem and Brandon Saad to the list. On D, Jake Gardiner looks like a guy who's ready to take the next step, and Matt Irwin is starting to assume a bigger role. Bouncebacks from a bad year? I like Hartnell, Brad Richards, and Clowe. And never ever forget about Ray Whitney - this will be the 12th straight year that he will drop in your draft.

    • There's a lot of potentials, but I agree I always have my eye on Perron and now that he's with Edm he should light it up even more this yr
