    keeper goalie question

Like I said earlier, there are 16 teams and each keeps one goalie. That means the top 16 goalies in the league are gone and the other 14 or so other legitimate starters will be taken in the 20 picks of our draft.

I have 2nd and 18th pick overall so I should be able to pick up at least one more "good" goalie, but I want to have the best goalie that is available to me as my keeper. Right now that is Crawford, but like I said, I can have Hiller or Pavelec for relatively cheap so my question remains...

is Hiller or Pavelec a better keeper than Crawford?

The straight up trade doesn't work because the guy that owns Hiller also owns (and will be keeping) Luongo, so all of his other goalies will be dropped into the draft pool and for that reason, owning Crawford does him no good.

I need to decide if it is worth giving up a middle round pick to upgrade Crawford to Hiller.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    • Hiller is the best goalie out of all 3. Crawford is on the best team. Pavelec isn't a bad choice because Winnipeg is an interesting team, but I think they'll be behind Washington and Florida again this season, maybe even the Hurricanes on their bounceback season. I'd personally go with Hiller because Crawford had his 1st full season as #1 goalie with Chi-town and it proved to be a little messy. Granted Hiller's season wasn't much better last year, but he's proven (and so are the Ducks) to be a playoff team. You will need to be concerned about Selanne leaving though, because he will have a huge impact on the team if he decides to leave. I'd also give Winnipeg a chance too because they are young, and have a lot of time to grow. Pavelec himself is young(er) [I think he's like 27-28] so he still has a year or two before he's in his prime. I think Winnipeg is on the right path to becoming a strong team, they have a lot of good young D-men, and their offense contains a lot of young prospects that have the potential to have an offensive explosion. If all the pieces fall together, Winnipeg could have a dominating season within the next few, with Pavelec leading the way. Just a thought :)

    • I would want Hiller over Craw any day. Crawford is nothing better than a solid #2 at best. Hiller will have a bounce back year in 2012-13.

    • bud just keep crawford with the Blackhawks Defence Keith, Seabrook, Hajalmerson, Leddy! Keep Crawford it's worth it trust me!!
