Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
At goalie I have Lundqvist, J. Quick, Khabibulin, and C. Ward. I am thinking of dropping Khabby to pick up a new goalie, but wanted some thoughts. FA goalies are Brodeur, Elliot, Anderson, Theodore, Varly, Halak. Also, I have Giordano who is on IR and if I drop him I need to pick up another d-man. Good FAs include Timmonen, White, Pitkanen, Clitsome, Kaberle. Any thoughts?
I honestly don't understand your concern. sometimes the best move is not to make one. Your tending is pretty good and if anything I might consider dropping Ward before Khabi.
Also, is it really necessary to have 4 tenders? I know some people use this strategy but I find it more useful to have an extra skater. But if you really want another goalie I would say anyone but Anderson (and Im a sens fan)
Pick up White
Really don't understand why people are rushing to drop Khabi. The guy had 2 weak games, but has since responded with another 5 great games in a row. For the season, he has a 1.88 GAA and a .935 save percentage. Of course he couldn't keep up his early ratios of a GAA under 1 and a save percentage of .970, but he is still playing at an elite level and not showing any signs of reverting to his form from last year.
If you are going to drop Khabi, I would pick up either Halak or Elliott. Both teams have time shares, but Halak/Elliott are putting up some much better numbers than Khabi/Dubnyk. The only others I would consider are Theodore (Panthers are winning) and Brodeur (solid # of starts, but unspectacular this year). Ignore the rest unless something changes about their situations.
For defense, Timonen or White are your best bets. I'd go with Timonen because he's a proven commodity in a high powered team. With those 2 availability, I'm not sure why you would even consider the others, especially Kaberle.
