Girardi is a versatile defenseman who stays at home more often than not. His offensive upside this year is due to Marc Staal being injured. Since there is no timetable on Staal's return, Girardi is poised for a career year with Ryan McDonagh. Girardi is more of a passer than shooter, so you will not be getting a lot of goals or shots but you will get a lot of blocks and hits with Girardi.
Last year he hit 30+ points, but his PP time fluctuates. The Rangers usually go with Richards, Del Zotto, McDonagh and Girardi (for the time being) on the points during the PP. I would pick up Girardi if you are lacking in the Hits, Blocks, and TOI. I would not pick up Girardi if you are looking for Goals, Shots, PIM. His PPP, SHP, +/- are neither a pro or a con.
