Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Corey Perry and Rick Nash
Claude Giroux and Henrik Zetterberg
I'm really torn on this trade.
Corey Perry was great last year, but I do not seeing him producing as much this year.
It seems Rick Nash is having a great start, but not sure how long that will last. Columbus in general is suffering and there seems to be chemistry issues on that top line. Jeff Carter was also just place on IR.
Claude Giroux has had one of the most explosive starts in the whole league and I expect him to stay consistent for the rest of the year. He is also doing really well on the powerplay with 5 PPP all together.
Henrik Zetterberg is having a slow start, but I expect that to change soon.
What do you guys think?
Whoever gets Giroux and Zetty wins in this trade, however, I expect a big year out of Nash.
Columbus is going to struggle in the short term with Mason playing poorly and with Wis and Carter out. Once those two guys get back into the lineup expect Nash to simply go into beastmode.
If you already own Nash - keep him. Trade Perry for Giroux or Zetty, but i'd go for Giroux first.
I would take the Zetterberg side for purely illogical, emotional reasons - he's one of my favorite players playing on my favorite team.
But if I took the time to fully analyze the deal chances are I would stand pat with what you have, even if Perry's production drops - in my opinion that balances out the games lost to injury that Zetterberg is most likely to have. Nash is the model of consistency and the only real weapon in the Columbus arsenal and Giroux is also reliable - so those two balance out as well.
