    Season altering trade

Ok so it is week 2 but I have been offered a major deal that will alter the course of my season. I am in a 18 team 10 player keeper league with 1 player Farm Team. I have been rebuilding for the last two years, finishing near the bottom of the table and getting consecutive 2 overall picks as well as trading for other early round picks (done before 5th round last 2 years).

    I get
    Mark Scheifele(Wpg - C)
    Scott Hartnell (Phi - LW)
    Ryan Johansen (Cls - C) - -
    2012 Draft Picks
    Round 1
    Round 2

    My player to trade
    Tyler Seguin (Bos - C)
    2012 Draft Picks
    Round 4
    Round 5

My interpretation is that I am giving up a maturing star for two other young guns who have yet to get their feet wet in the league and an aging vet. I also get a pair of pick improvements.

    My team currently is:

    Tyler Seguin
    (Bos - C)
    Steve Ott
    (Dal - C)
    Stephen Weiss
    (Fla - C)
    Magnus Paajarvi
    (Edm - LW)
    Tyler Kennedy
    (Pit - LW,RW) DTD
    Andrei Kostitsyn
    (Mon - LW,RW)
    Erik Cole
    (Mon - LW,RW)
    Mikael Samuelsson
    (Van - RW)
    Patric Hornqvist
    (Nsh - RW)
    Erik Karlsson
    (Ott - D)
    Duncan Keith
    (Chi - D)
    Brent Seabrook
    (Chi - D)
    Alex Pietrangelo
    (StL - D)
    Gabriel Landeskog
    (Col - LW)
    Jarret Stoll
    (LA - C)
    Martin Erat
    (Nsh - RW) IR
    Craig Anderson
    (Ott - G)
    Alex Auld
    (Ott - G)
    Al Montoya
    (NYI - G)
    Evgeni Nabokov
    (NYI - G)
    Rick DiPietro
    (NYI - G) DTD

With the exception of my goalies I feel that my team is moving in the right direction but I'm not in a place to compete of a title as of yet.

I guess my question is should I write off this season in week 2 or should I try and improve my standing in my league.

    • No way Seguin will be a beast for years, far better than the gtwo prospects you are getting.

    • First off, this team looks pretty good. Second, it is only week two, and I wouldn't make any major trades until you know you are not going to win the championship. I say no deal.

    • You're trading a young puppy away for two raggidy young pups and a dog whose best trick is flashing around his mullet. Not a good idea in my opinion. I think that if you are this desperate for players, check elsewhere.

Advice: Considering this trade came to you, I am guessing you're in no hurry for a trade. That is good because Seguin has talent. Let him develop more and he could become the offensive weapon the Bruins need to take stress off of Tim Thomas. Check the waivers and free agency, this is a bad trade.

    • do not trade seguin for that lineup. none are impact players, some are demoted players. seguin is the only bright spot in this trade for either with definite potential. he will be your stud in two years.
