  • For my defense I currently have:

    (D) Nick Lidstrom
    (D) Tobias Enstrom
    (D) Kevin Shattenkirk
    (D) Dennis Wideman
    (D) Ryan Whitney *on IR

I working on a multi trade that would swap Lidstrom for Phaneuf

Enstrom and Shattenkirk are pretty much the same so in learning towards dumping Enstrom, Shattenkirk looks to have a better year.

Wideman is off to a good start and has been getting PP time, looks to improve this year especially in +/-

Not sure what to do when Whitney comes back though

This also leaves me with a few possible FA:

    (D) Sheldon Souray
    (D) Ian White
    (D) Sami Salo

Any insight on what I should for the best D is appreciated

    • Also, when Whitney comes back, compare and predict who you want better, Wideman or Whitney. Wideman is the weakest like the guy above me said.

    • Honestly, I have to say that I would play it safe with possibly the greatest defenseman in the league, Lidstrom. Keeping him around is a great idea. I would not mess with the line, as tempting as it is. And if you consider Salo as a possible d-man, don't! Salo is an injury magnet.

      Personal Opinion: Do nothing

    • not sure why you want to mess.
not seeing how phaneuf is an improvement on lidstrom, or why you need to dump enstrom. wideman is the weakest of the bunch...and like you say, he's off to a good start.
what you've got is solid, only real problem is what to do when whitney comes back.
