Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Hits should replace Penalty Minutes in standard leagues/all leagues.
Why, in a "Fantasy" sport, should you need a player on your roster that sits in a box? He cant contribute in any other category while he's there. Hits on the other hand are badass, and there are plenty to go around.
Blocked Shots are next on the badass stat list. If you play in a league that doesnt have Hits or Blocked Shots you are missing out.
Who really cares what your players ATOI is, or how much time he spends in the penalty box not scoring, and putting his team down a man??
PS Shots on goal is a pretty lame stat too.
Its time for a change!

IRL in doesn't count if it doesn't go in so why is SOG considered a positive in fantasy? its like counting missed shots in basketball as a positive or every missed swing in baseball as a positive or incomplete passes in football as a positive...its stupid.
Yea, and you cant play the game if youre not wearing skates.
Whats your point?
I could see an argument for a goal scoring percentage.
Shots On Goal just a number that should help your waiver wire decisions, in the hopes that the player will score goals in the future.
In your league:
Sort "all" players- 2011 stats, by PIM, then sort by HITS.
Compare those players "other" category production. Its night, and day. The HITS goons outscore the PIM goons across the board.
HITS! Coming to a league near you!! ...haha hopefully
PIMs can be good or bad IRL depending on the situation and i like that cat in fantasy because without it enforcer type players would be completely useless when in reality they help teams by bringing energy and toughness.
they changed GWG to SOG in standard leagues a few years ago after enough ppl complained but SOG is almost just as lame. it seems much like IRL that most ppl only care about offense so getting them to add a defensive cat like hits or blks is futile.
i wish standard fantasy leagues in all sports gave more use to defense players but it'll probably never happen.
