Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
After 1 trade and post-draft waivers, here's my current roster in a 10 team, H2H league:
C Matt Duchene
C Mikko Koivu
C Tim Connolly
LW Daniel Sedin
LW Alexander Semin (LW,RW)
LW Rick Nash (LW,RW)
RW Ilya Kovalchuk (LW,RW)
RW Dany Heatley
RW Chris Stewart
D Ryan Suter
D Travis Harmonic
D Ian White
D Marc-Andre Bergeron
D Marek Zidlicky
D Jamie McBain
UTIL Brandon Dubinsky (C,LW)
G Ryan Miller
BN Simon Gagne (LW)
BN Ales Hemsky (RW)
BN James Wisniewski (D) (NA, dumb-ass)
BN Cam Ward (G)
We only start 1 goalie with a 2 game min per week, so a 3rd goalie is pointless. I'm carrying 7 D right now to fill in for said dumb-ass Wisniewski, who can't play until October 25th. After Wiz returns I'll may trade a D-man, or drop my worst performing D-man for another C, or maybe keep all 7.
I'm thinking G, A, P, and PPP's should be a win most weeks. I'm pretty decent in PIM's with Dubinsky and Harmonic leading the way, with a few others who take a lot of dumb penalties (Semin, Heatley etc). My goaltending should be solid, although they aren't on the best teams in the league.
I've tried trading another winger for a C (already traded Hossa for Duchene) but no one is biting since faceoffs are a stat, most are holding onto their C's.
Any thoughts, suggestions?
oh boy where to begin....
you sacrificed wingers for everything else and it going to cost you BADLY. Mid pack team at best but I have seen far worse. But if your stud wingers gets hurt consider yourself finished.

I pretty strongly disagree. My wingers are awesome, my C, with Datsyuk now are very good, and I've got good goaltending. D is weak name wise, but very capable of supporting my top notch forwards.
A lot seem to assume that just because Kovalchuk, Semin, and Heatley had off years last year that they will suck this year. If I had this team prior to last season everyone would think it was awesome as all those guys were ranked really high. Seems too many people only look back 1 season, whereas I take into account the previous 3 seasons when ranking players. I think that I got that many top players in an autopick draft is pretty good, and I can guarantee I'll make the playoffs and contend for the title.
Miller and Ward will get tons of starts and wins. Might be average in GAA and SV% though. Great depth at wing and a little thin at center. D looks a little light but it's tough to say, outside of a few stud d-men, who will actually have a good season.
That said in a 10 team league you should be pretty stacked all around and you might have gone too winger crazy. I would look to deal for a center and keep your eye out for any emerging d man off the waiver wire. Most of winning in a non-keeper league is picking up on trends and dumping dead weight for the right guys at the right time.
Try trading like Dany Heatley for like Eric Staal? You are stacked on both left wing and right wing. Right wing is a very thin position in the league. Hard to come by position so someone should be looking for a right wing for there team.
Or if your looking for a cheaper center that wins a lot of face offs try like Chris Stewart for Tomas Plekanec.
Another suggestion is look for guys in free agent market like Vermette, Tyler Bozak, Erik Belanger, or like Saku Koivu. They all put up around 35-50 points and are top 20 in faceoffs won last year.

We start 6 D-men and with Wiz suspended 8 games, that's why I have 7. I actually tried a Heatley for Staal trade and no go. What would you think about something like Nash for Kopitar? The guy w/ Kopitar has shown interest in Nash, but I'm not so sure if Kopitar is worth it.
why are you carrying so many defense men? How many defense men are allowed to play. If its only 4 i would only have 4 or 5 defense men. They do not contribute enough as much as forwards. Its not like you have a stat like blocked shots. If that is the case cause alot of your defense men are not that good either.
For an autodraft I'd say it's very decent; you pretty much summed it up yourself, C is a bit weaker, keep fishing (personally, I'd try to trade either Semin or Kovalchuk for a C of equal value - easier said than done..), D lacks big names but should not drag your team down (took Suter, Zidlicky and White myself in one of the deeper leagues, would drop Bergeron after Wiz is back for a forward), goalies are more than solid and both are workhorses to boot, overall, you may hope for a solid season, even though anything can happen in HtH..
And no, I wouldn't trade Stewart for Roy either.

Yeah, I thought I'd be able to get a top C for 1 of my dual wing eligible guys myself, but I made offers to the teams strong on C's and they wouldn't take. I'm guessing once the season starts (Semin usually starts red hot) I'll get some offers sent my way.

Yeah, I've been fishing for Centers, but no one's biting right now. Probably will be able to get one after the season starts and everyone see's what they have. As for the D, this is the 3rd year of this league, and like I said it's an auto-pick league, and last year I ranked D higher and got all D-men with picks 4-9, so I ranked them lower and got none of the elite guys. Probably went a little too far the other way, but I'll take the Wingers I have nonetheless.
pd like dubinsky and hemsky both will prolly be in the 50- 70 range hopefully hemsky wont get hurt thats the only thing stopping him from dominating and might wana trade heatley for a stronger player but ik he's good
obviously u sacrificed d for more strong forwards which most people do but forwards get more points than d soooo yea. looks pretty strong i think Carolina will have a beast year so gratz on Ward i got him on my main aswell. i might consider if i were u to not sacrifice much but try to get maybe Myers or E. Johnson on d both have experience and are improving fast. well with Erik i just think with the team switch he'll take a step forward in goals forsure. also consider getting some rangers d theyll be beast racking assists on trhat uber first line now. also u might be able to get blue jacket d cheap
