Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Are you guys retarded???
Fleury for sure!
Pens were a bit off last year due to their THREE TOP CENTRES missing most of the season (including their defensive gem in Staal), so pending everyone is healthy Fleury's numbers will go way up from last year.
Crawford MAY be very good, but he hasn't proven himself yet.
Ultimately, I would rather put my faith in Chicago than in Pittsburgh right now.
On paper, Fleury should be a consistent top 5 goalie. But he never pulls it off for one reason or another - be it injuries, a depleted supporting cast, or just plain inconsistent play. His has been a career of slight underachievement. His value will depend on Crosby's health as well. I'd probably put him in my top 10, but closer to the bottom of that list.
Crawford doesn't have an excuse to be outside the top 5. He had 33 wins last year despite spending a full third of the season as the backup - when he started, Chicago remained a top-flight team. He proved in the second half that he can shoulder a heavy load without many nights off. He has a championship-calibre supporting cast with a Norris-level blue line, and talent-wise, he may well be the best goalie the Hawks have had since the lockout. I expect him to be near the top of the league in wins, if not outright #1.
