Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I'm going into the 2nd year of a 5-year keeper points league (18 roster spots: 2C, 2RW, 2LW, 4D, 2G, 6BN). My keepers right now look like this:
I'm thinking of dropping either Couture (C) or Spezza (C) and instead keeping Fowler (D). I'm hearing all three of these guys could have huge seasons; I'm also hearing all three of these guys could be busts. Thoughts?
Fisrt thanks for answering my post. This is a hard one. Spezza is probably the safest bet here, you know what you're likely to get. If you're a gambling man, you go with Couture and Spezza. My best advice though is to keep what you have. Fowler is abig talent but it's usually easier to find a decent D on FA than good Fwds. Every season there's one or two surprises with good value (e.g. Montador or Hamonic last season). And finally I like my Fwds to be offensive and my D to rack up the PIMs, so you lose less points etc. compared to having a goon as a Fwd. Hope this makes sense.

I wouldn't drop Couture, given that there's more of a premium on goals in your league, and Couture is already a proven goal scorer after his first season.
Personally I don't value defensemen nearly as much. In a league like yours, I wouldn't be dropping either Spezza or Couture for Fowler.
