Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
My trade got veoted.
Elias, Burrows and Luongo
Alfredsson, Marleau and Fleury
Is this such a bad trade that it deserved a veto?
Granted Alfredsson and Marleau are having better years than Elias and Burrows, but Longo blows Fleury outta the water.
Am I wrong to be raising a stink about this?
Not a veto.
Burrows can be better than Marleau if PIM is a statistic in your league. He has been playing with the Sedin's so as long as that continues he will have no choice but to get points.
Fleury has never been a great goalie, he has ranged from awful to OK based on the team in front of him. It's not like he's ever had a sparkling SV % or GAA. He used to get wins, now that is in doubt. Luongo has put up all star numbers at times in his career, Fleury hasn't.
Overall, assuming one team has depth in net and the other at forward, this is trade is not far off from being dead even.
Firstly, how strong it makes one team is irrelevant. In this case, you are vetoing solely based on jealousy. I would hate to be in a league with such jealous managers. If you want to compete and have a chance on the title, than focus your attention on your team so that the other one doesn't win.
Secondly, how can one trade guarantee a win? It is not that lopsided that you can guarantee one team winning the league when it's only November.
I say its a bad trade. Loungo may be having a better season right now than Fluery, but its still Loungo still plays for the Canucks and he is a shittier goalie than Fluery is overall. Burrows just came off the IR, and isnt Elias on the IR right now too?? I would never have accepted the trade, but I do understand why it was Vetoed.
But if that trade goes through, I don't think there is any question about who is going to win that league. When (not if) Fleury picks it up, that team is going to be steamrolling EVERYONE. And while I do not veto semi-lopsided trades, that trade is not remotely close. If I see a deal like that, I veto it because it will affect me too.
I didn't do it
sounds fair to me
I only veto tony's Wayne Gretzky for a bag of pucks trades, and have;t seen one of them in a while.
I think boys veto a bit quickly
it is a GM's right to make stupid dumb ass trades
as Phil Kessel and Mr. Burke
Of course this should've been vetoed. It's a hell of a long season. It's an upgrade everywhere for you. and in a big money league people don't want to see someone get an advantage especially so early in the season. If you're whole point is Luongo is better than fleury pfffft. come on. it's been a month. Fleury has a ring, Luongo doesn't, maybe that makes Fleury the better goalie then. It's been one month and you think that that makes the season? Johnson is NOT the number one in pitsburgh, Pitsburgh is just getting settled. This is retarded. Luongo blows Fleury out of the water? maybe if the season ended today. And you'd be getting Marleau and Alfreddson. Come on JM, come back to earth

That's what I was getting at. It's only a fair trade if you take it at face value due to Fleury's current poor performance. But that's like taking an injured player at face value. That's like saying Parise is only worth some random FA pick-up, or Gaborik is worth a guy like... Ladd.
